Parent Drop off and Dismissal Information
Morning Parent Drop-Off
Please have your student exit from the passenger side of the vehicle to avoid passing traffic.
We are kindly and respectfully asking all parents who drop off their child in the morning to please avoid parking along the lower left side of the driveway as those spaces are reserved for staff and visitors. We greatly appreciate your help and cooperation with this! Do not double park as this blocks the flow of traffic and is a safety concern.
Your patience, cooperation and understanding regarding the need to prioritize student safety and have an orderly drop-off are greatly appreciated.
Dismissal Safety Reminders
Changes in scheduled Dismissal:
To avoid any confusion and/or potential safety concerns at the end of the day, all dismissal changes should be provided in writing and signed by the parent/guardian. If a change is requested without a prior written notice, it must be made no later than 2 hours before the end of the day with the exception of an emergency/urgent situation. No late change requests other than emergency/urgent situations will be allowed. For safety reasons, once students have loaded the buses, students will not be removed from a bus.
Parent Pickup:
Please remember to bring your ID to parent pickup. If you have an authorized alternative person, please remind them to bring ID as well. As we get to know you the system will flow easier, but you should always have your ID available in case staff unfamiliar with you are covering Parent pickup.

DES PTO
The PTO is looking for parent volunteers to assist with PTO sponsored events! The PTO helps out our school TREMENDOUSLY by sponsoring activities, fun family nights, field day, in school enrichments and even helps fund student rewards and prizes throughout the year. They couldn't do all that they do without the help of parent volunteers. We also have a few parents whose children are aging out of the elementary school in the next year, so we need parents to fill their spots. If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Katie Wall at DouglasSchoolsPTO@gmail.com.
The PTO serves both the Primary and Elementary school. Below is a link to their webpage.
Reminder
Please don't forget to look through your child(ren)'s backpacks and folders for beginning of the year paperwork, and important information from your child(ren)'s teacher. We appreciate your cooperation with filling that paperwork out and getting it back to us, so we can update everything we need to in our systems.
