MO Stride Schools CRE Handbook
What is Career Prep at Missouri Stride Schools?
What is a "CTSO"?
A career and technical student organization (CTSO) is an extracurricular group for students in CTE pathways to further their knowledge and skills by participating in activities, events, and competitions.
Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) enhance student learning through contextual instruction, leadership and personal development, applied learning and real world application.
CTSOs work as an integral component of the classroom curriculum and instruction, building upon employability and career skills and concepts through the application and engagement of students in hands-on demonstrations and real life and/or work experiences.

Cooperative Education
Course Overview
The Cooperative Occupational Education program will allow you to earn course credit for working at your part-time job! In the "Cooperative Occupational Education" (Co-Op) program, you would take 2 courses and receive a half elective credit for each course. One class has asynchronous classwork (assignments) with no live classes to help you develop your career readiness skills and one class gives you time to work at your job. You would receive two separate grades-one based on your progress and completion of assignments in the classwork and one based on your performance at your job. You must already have a part-time job prior to applying for this program and you must remain employed throughout the semester to qualify for this program.
The premise of our Cooperative Education/Internship based program is to give students a time built into their “schedule” to experience a possible industry/career and gain employable work experiences. The Cooperative Education program provides a place for students to apply school-based knowledge for personal and professional benefits in business settings. This combination of academics and on-the-job training is designed to increase student skills and contribute to success in postsecondary studies and the workplace.
Cooperative Education Internship is an essential component in the “Business and Marketing Program of study or Career Pathway” that builds on core academic instruction, marketing-specific knowledge and skills, and contextual on-the-job training.
