A Message From the Principal A Message From the Principal

Hi Mammoth Families,

It is hard to believe how close we are to the end of the school year. This time of year is always so special as students begin to put all of the pieces together and their academic and social emotional growth truly shines. We have truly been enjoying these beautiful days outside as well. There is nothing better than seeing our students laughing, playing, and connecting during recess in the sunshine.

I want to start by saying that we are so thankful for the incredible community support during last month’s Read-A-Thon. Together, we raised $12,855.89! When our students are reading and our community is rallying around them, everyone wins. Thank you for making this such a fun and meaningful success for our school.

As we head into April we are excited to celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers. A special shoutout to Ashley Cooke, our Volunteer of the Year. Ashley has been an integral part of the MVE community over many years through her work with PTO. She is loved by students and teachers alike, always willing to lend a hand, and consistently goes above and beyond to support our school. We are so grateful for all that she has given to our community.

Whether you have supported through PTO, WatchDOGs, helped at events, worked behind the scenes, or given your time in ways big or small, we are so grateful. Our school simply would not be the same without you. Your time, energy, and care make a direct impact on our students and staff every single day, and we appreciate all that you do to support our Mammoth community. We would love the opportunity to celebrate you! Please join us for our Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on Wednesday, April 22 at 5:30pm in the library. We hope to see you there as we take time to recognize and thank the many people who help make Mountain Vista such a special place.

As we look ahead to the coming weeks, we are preparing for spring assessment season. Students in 3rd through 5th grade will begin the CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) state assessment the week of April 6, with testing continuing through the week of April 13. We are excited for our students to have the opportunity to showcase all they have learned this year. You can support your child in doing their best by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, arrive at school on time, and are encouraged to simply try their best each day. We are proud of their growth and know they are ready!

As we begin thinking about next school year, I want to share a quick reminder about our classroom placement process. We do not accept requests for specific teachers or classmates. Our goal is to create balanced classrooms that meet the needs of all students. If there are specific needs, strengths, or considerations you would like us to be aware of as we begin this process, you are welcome to share those with me in writing by April 24. You can send this information directly to me at mcarkhuff@cherrycreekschools.org. This information helps us thoughtfully place each student in an environment where they can be successful.

Finally, our PTO is currently looking for new members and has open board positions for next year. Our PTO plays an incredible role in supporting our students, staff, and school community, and it is a great way to get involved. If you are interested in learning more or joining this amazing group, we invite you to attend the PTO meeting on April 22 at 6:00pm.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership.

Dream. Believe. Achieve.
