Blazer Bulletin for Dec 11-15

Dear Trail Blazer Community
Trailblazer Family,
We are counting down the days to the end of the semester and our hallways & classrooms are filled with decorations & excitement. With the holiday season approaching, we want to partner with you to ensure a positive learning environment for all students. We encourage you to remind your child about the importance of maintaining good behavior at school during this time.
Increased Consequences for Leaving Campus
Please note that Lebanon Trail remains a closed campus and students who leave campus during the day will now receive a Thursday Night Detention. Multiple offenses could result in tiered consequences, including ISS and Parent Conference. Please speak with your students about the importance of remaining on campus during school hours.
Save the Date - GT Referral Window Jan 10-24
Parents, teachers, school administrators, students, and community members may refer a child for gifted/talented screening. The referral window is January 10 - 24, 2024. Information regarding the referral process can be found here. Please note, if your student has already been screened for any reason during the 2023 - 2024 school year, he/she is not eligible to be screened for gifted/talented services again this school year.
In order to refer a secondary student for gifted/talented screening, parents/guardians must complete this referral link between January 10 - 24, 2024. This link will become active on January 10, 2024.

Semester Grades and Course Credit
A student at any grade level enrolled in a high school course will earn credit for the course only if the final grade is 70 or above. For a two-part (two-semester, 1-credit course), the student’s grades from both halves (semesters) will be averaged and credit will be awarded if the combined average is 70 or above. If the student’s combined average is less than 70, the student will be awarded credit only for the half (semester) with the passing grade.
Attendance and Course Credit
To receive credit or a final grade in a class, a student must attend the class at least 90 percent of the days it is offered. A student who attends at least 75 percent but fewer than 90 percent of the days may receive credit or a final grade if he or she completes a plan, approved by the principal, that allows the student to fulfill the class’s instructional requirements.
If a student attends fewer than 75 percent of the class days or does not complete the principal-approved plan, then the attendance review committee will determine whether there are extenuating circumstances for the absences and how the student can regain credit or a final grade.
With the exception of absences due to serious or life-threatening illness or related treatment, all absences, excused or unexcused, may be held against a student’s attendance requirement.

Reminders
Student Absences - Requesting Advance Work
FISD policy does not permit students to 'work ahead' or to get missed work from teachers prior to the planned absences. Students who remain enrolled, will receive the grade earned, and upon return can work with teachers to get missing work submitted within a reasonable time frame and teachers can then submit a grade change form if applicable. It is the student’s responsibility to meet with the teacher and turn in missing work or make up missed assessments upon return to campus.
Visiting LT Graduates
Parents, ‘tis the season when your older children who graduated from LT, will be coming home from college and wanting to visit with their teachers. While we are happy to help facilitate this connection, please be aware and inform your older children that they will need to follow the following guidelines:
Have an acceptable ID
Make an appointment with the teacher, (only during the teachers' conference period)
Staff member meets student visitor in the front office and escorts the student back to the front office at the end of the visit.
Student graduates will NOT be allowed to visit during Mega Lunch.
- Student graduates should NOT be walking in the hallway without a staff member's escort.
