I hope everyone is settling into the new school year and finding their routines! It has been such a pleasure getting to know our students and staff over the past few weeks. I have already seen so many wonderful examples of kindness, excitement for learning, and school spirit throughout Jubilee.

I am incredibly excited about the year ahead and feel very fortunate to be part of the Jubilee Elementary community. I know we are going to have a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, fun, and lots of Jaguar pride!

About Our Newsletters

Our newsletters are meant to keep families updated on things happening in our school, so please keep them handy as a reference for ongoing activities and important information.

Newsletters will be sent home electronically and posted on our school website. If you would prefer to receive a paper copy, please let the office know.

You can expect our monthly newsletter to arrive early in each month. Our newsletters are usually a one-page look at what to expect for the month ahead. September's newsletter is a little longer as we review important routines and procedures for both new and returning students. Please take a few minutes to read through it.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Staying Connected

I typically communicate with families by email, phone, or text, so please ensure that your contact information is up to date with the office. If you prefer a different method of communication, please let me know.

Student Safety

There are many safety procedures in place to help keep our students safe. Please take a moment to review the following:

๐Ÿš— Kiss & Go Drop-Off Loop

Morning Drop-Off Only

Our Kiss & Go Drop-Off Loop is for morning drop-off only. There is no afternoon pick-up in the loop. Parents/guardians must park on the street and walk up to the building for afternoon pick-up.

The Kiss & Go Loop is intended for students who can get out of the vehicle independently. If you need to get out of your vehicle to assist your child, please park across the street and walk your child to the school so that traffic can continue to flow safely.

Pre-Primary students may also use the Kiss & Go Loop. Please let a staff member know that you have a Pre-Primary student, and one of us will personally escort your child to the door.

Many of you have noticed our teachers outside each morning helping to ensure that the drop-off loop is running smoothly. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep Jubilee Elementary safe!

School Doors

The doors are locked when students are in the building. A doorbell is located at the main entrance for families and visitors who need to enter. There is also a doorbell at the Pre-Primary entrance.

Once inside the building, please sign in at the main office.

If you are dropping something off for your child, we will hold it at the front desk until recess or lunch so that classroom learning is not interrupted. Volunteers are also asked to sign in at the office as required by our fire emergency plan.

Pets

We have a number of students who are very afraid of dogs. Please remember to keep dogs off the school yard and away from areas where students are arriving, leaving, or playing. This helps ensure that all of our students feel safe and comfortable at school.

After-School Arrangements

Unless we are notified in writing in advance, your child will go home according to their regular dismissal arrangements.

Children may try to make plans with friends during the school day, but the only way we can ensure a safe dismissal is if parents/guardians confirm any changes to after-school arrangements with a written note.

Emergency Drills

Throughout September, students will participate in our school Fire, Lockdown, and Hold-and-Secure drills. These drills are practiced with students in an age-appropriate manner so that everyone understands what to do in the event of an emergency.

If you have questions or concerns about these procedures, please contact the school office.

๐Ÿ“ Forms

On the first day of school, forms were sent home with students to be completed and returned to the school.

Please ensure that you return:

  • Student Registration Forms โ€“ Please review, update, and return.
  • Media Release Forms โ€“ Please sign if you give permission for your child's picture to be taken or their work to be shared.

Thank you for helping us keep our student records current.

๐Ÿฅฃ Breakfast Program

Our Breakfast Program is an important part of supporting our students each morning, and we are looking for volunteers!

If you are available to help on a morning and have completed the required Volunteer Application, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Criminal Record Check, please contact the school office.

We would love to have you join us!

๐Ÿงฅ Caring Closet

Jubilee has a Caring Closet with items that students may need, including school supplies, hats, mitts, book bags, and other essentials.

If your child requires something, please don't hesitate to contact the school office. We are happy to help.

๐Ÿ† School Advisory Council (SAC)

We Are Looking for New Members!

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a legally recognized body established by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

The SAC is committed to supporting the implementation of the School Improvement Plan and assisting and advising the Principal and staff on various school-related issues. The SAC also assumes the duties and responsibilities of the School Discipline Committee.

The SAC meets regularly throughout the school year, approximately 6โ€“7 times per year.

Interested in joining? Please contact the school office for more information.

Our first SAC meeting will take place this month, with the exact date to be posted on the school website once it has been determined.

๐Ÿ’™ Parent Support Group (PSG)

Our Parent Support Group hosts monthly meetings that are open to all parents and guardians.

The PSG supports and enhances our school by planning fun activities and raising funds to support our students. Last spring, the PSG raised enough money to purchase supplies for all of our students!

We are always looking for parents and guardians to join us in planning activities throughout the year. If you have an hour or two once a month in the evening and would like to be part of the fun, please reach out!

Thanks to The Northside Boys for their generous donation to the PSG. This donation has helped with the purchase of essential supplies for our students!

๐Ÿ“ฑ Cell Phone & Electronic Device Policy

The CBVRCE cell phone policy states that students in Pre-Primary through Grade 6 must turn off and store their cell phones for the entire school day, including non-instructional times such as recess and lunch.

In addition, personal gaming devices and other handheld electronic devices are not permitted on school grounds. While we understand that many students have these devices, they should remain at home whenever possible and must not be used on school property.

Please note that the school is not responsible for lost or stolen electronic devices that students choose to bring to school.

๐Ÿ“ฒ Safe Arrival โ€“ SchoolMessenger

One of our greatest priorities is ensuring that all students arrive safely at school each day.

If your child will be absent, please report their absence using one of the following methods:

Toll-Free Number:
1-833-673-8243

PowerSchool Parent Portal:
Families can log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal and access SchoolMessenger to report an absence.

SchoolMessenger App:
Download the SchoolMessenger app for Android or iOS and sign up using your PowerSchool username (full email address).

Please note: Download the app with the blue logo, not the yellow one.

For more information about reporting your child's absence and frequently asked questions, please visit the CBVRCE website.

Volunteers

Volunteers play an important role in creating a positive school climate and supporting our students.

CBVRCE has practices in place to help provide a safe and secure learning environment for all students. Before volunteering at our school, all volunteers must complete:

  • Volunteer Application
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Child Abuse Registry Search

If you have already completed these requirements and are unsure whether they are still valid, please contact the main office.
