Superintendent's Update
April 11, 2025
Dear CCPS Families,
I am thrilled to announce that Taylor Schafer, an 8th-grade Social Studies teacher from North East Middle School, has been named this year's CCPS Teacher of the Year! Taylor was awarded this prestigious honor on Thursday, April 3. Her dedication to education and her students is truly inspiring. Please join me in congratulating Taylor on this well-deserved recognition.
I also want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the 22 nominees for this award. Your commitment to excellence in teaching is commendable, and we are proud to have you as part of our CCPS community.
Additionally, I would like to remind everyone of the two remaining musicals in our school district. "Descendants" will be performed at North East High School at 7:00 pm tonight. The final musical, "Legally Blonde," will occur at Perryville High School from April 24 to 26 at 7:00 pm. Don't miss these fantastic performances!
Lastly, please note that spring break is next week, from April 18 to 21. I hope everyone enjoys a restful and rejuvenating break.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our schools.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Lawson, Ed.D.

Congratulations, CCPS Teacher of the Year - Taylor Schafer (NEMS)
Thank you, Martin's in Rising Sun
Since launching the 2021 Feeding School Kids initiative through our rounding up program or converting CHOICE points into donations, we have raised more than $7.5 million to address the issue of childhood hunger. This year's initiative raised a total of $1,274,857. All of these will go to local public school districts in the communities we serve, whether paying off lunch debt, school pantry program, mobile pantry, garden program, or weekend bag distribution. Additionally, The Giant Company / Martin's was proud to match the first $100,000 donated by customers.
For the fourth year in a row, Martin's in Rising Sun has generously donated over $7,000 to Cecil County Public Schools. We thank Mr. Brad Lowe, Manager of Martin's Rising Sun, and the Giant Company/Martin's for their generosity and partnership in addressing childhood hunger in Cecil County.
