School District of Howards Grove
Parent & Guardian Newsletter May 2026

Update from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership, support, and trust throughout the year.
The final weeks of school always seem to move at two speeds at once: fast for adults and somehow even faster for students counting down to summer break. The end of the year is filled with concerts, field trips, athletic events, projects, exams, and celebrations. It is a busy time and we are incredibly grateful for the dedication of our families, staff, and community.
As we reflect on the school year and continue planning for the future, we value your feedback. In the coming days, families will receive a Parent Feedback Survey to the email address that is entered in Skyward. Your input helps us identify strengths, areas for growth, and opportunities to continue improving the educational experience for all students. Please take a few minutes to provide us honest feedback to help us grow.
Thank you again for being an important part of the Howards Grove School District community.
We wish your family a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer.

Board Reorganization
At the School Board Meeting this month, the Board did the annual reorganization meeting for new officers. Welcome to our new Board leadership.
Looking Ahead
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 1st, 2026.
Here is the district calendar for the 2026-2027 school year.
Human Growth & Development
As part of the School District of Howards Grove commitment to providing students with a comprehensive education, students K-12 will participate in Human Growth and Development instruction each school year. This instruction is designed to provide age-appropriate information that supports studentsā physical, emotional, social, and personal development in alignment with Wisconsin academic standards and district curriculum guidelines. Topics may include personal health, hygiene, growth and development, healthy relationships, decision-making, and overall wellness.
Every three years, in compliance with Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction requirements and School Board Policy, the district will establish a Human Growth and Development Advisory Committee consisting of parents, staff members, health professionals, and community representatives. The committee met this year, and has reviewed the instructional materials and curriculum used within the program. At this time, there are no changes to the Human Growth and Development curriculum or instructional materials. The curriculum and instruction adheres to the Department of Public Instructionās guidelines.
Parents and guardians are also welcome to review the Human Growth and Development curriculum materials at the district office upon request. If you would like to schedule a time to review materials or have questions regarding the curriculum, please contact Jon Hess at (920) 565-4450 or Angie Houston at (920) 565-4452. We value our partnership with families and appreciate your continued support in helping provide meaningful learning experiences for our students.
