Dear Sharks:

Here are the arrival and dismissal procedures for the start of this school year. Please help us follow these instructions to connect you with your children.

The Shaughnessy has two sides to the building. The main entrance is where families will need to go to get into the school. The main entrance is on the right side of the building near the bus stop. All communications will call this the main entrance side of the building. The other side of the building is where the Butler School is. We will refer to the left side of the school as the Butler side.

ARRIVAL (9:10-9:25 am) ARRIVAL (9:10-9:25 am)

Shaughnessy staff will be on both sides of the building for arrival and dismissal. The tardy bell rings at 9:25 am.

Buses: Buses will drop off students on the Butler side of the building in the morning. Children will enter the building and go to the cafeteria for breakfast or their classrooms. Staff will be present throughout the building, monitoring hallway behavior.

Family Drop-Off: If families are driving their children to school, they will use the main entrance side of the building. Please go around the parking lot in a counter-clockwise direction. Drop the children at the curb by utilizing the entire sidewalk. Please have the children exit vehicles on the curbside. Please say your goodbyes in the car to keep the line moving. During the first few days of school, we ask that you avoid this lot and park outside of the parking lot on Gorham Street or by the Bulter School. Starting in a few weeks, breakfast will take place in the cafeteria, and we will have early access to the building for drop-off. We are encouraging students to come to school early to eat breakfast. Until this starts, please do not drop students off until 9:05 am.

Dismissal (3:20-3:30 pm) Dismissal (3:20-3:30 pm)

We dismiss from both sides of the building. Please follow this guide

Buses: Bus students will exit using the main entrance. Families need to be at the bus stops ten minutes before the time on the bus pass. Please be aware buses run very slow the first month of school. We are a late school, and the buses arrive late to us. Therefore everything is delayed. Students cannot get off the bus without an adult if they are in kindergarten or grade 1. If you are not there, the students will be taken to the Moody School. You will need to pick them up there. If you have a transportation question, please call the bus company at 978-323-0101 for answers. When you call and ask us, we call this number too. By calling yourself, you can cut out the middle person.

Family Pick-Up: All families pick students up from the Butler School side of the building. Here is our procedure:

  • Pre-K + Kindergarten: All kindergarten students will be dismissed from the doors near their classes.

  • Grade 1+2: Students will be dismissed from the main door on the Butler side.

  • Grade 3+4: Students will be dismissed from the door nearest the Butler School. It is essentially behind the building.

  • CSA: Please check with the teachers. Most students will be dismissed from the main entrance side of the building.

Please do not park near the main entrance. You will get blocked in until buses leave.

Pre-K Arrival / Dismissal

PK students will arrive at the door near the playground fenced in area. You will need to park and walk your child to the door. Your child's teacher will meet you there.

Pick up will be at the main BACK DOOR at 3:10 on the same side of the school as the arrival door. You will need to park and come to the door to pick up your child. Your child's teacher will meet you there.
