Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
The second week in August has been busy at BHS as more and more students are coming in and out of the building. Our seniors have rushed to wrap up painting their spots, and many students are stopping in to say hello.
Our staff members have all reported back to the building in anticipation of our first day with students on Monday! Who would've guessed that we would have to pause some of our work due to the storm and power outages but in true Bulldog spirit, our staff continued working and prepping for our first day of school, even if it was somewhat in darkness! We hope all of you stayed safe!
In preparation for next week, please look over the Cell Phone Expectations that are noted below. Also, Mr. Moorehead has detailed the high school drop off pattern. If you are dropping off your students, please follow this designated pattern as it helps us both move traffic efficiently as well as maintain student safety.
We are looking forward to a successful first week of the 2026-2027 school year and can’t wait to welcome all of our Bulldogs back on Tuesday.
In service to our Bulldogs.

#EveryBulldogEveryDay
Hi, Bulldog Families.
Last week, we distributed Chromebooks to 9th graders who attended 9th grade transition day. We will also be distributing Chromebooks at Open House on Monday. Any student in 9th grade or new to Batavia will receive Chromebooks on the first day of school.
See everyone soon!
Go Bulldogs!

Hello, Families.
Happy last weekend before the first official day of school on Tuesday. It’s been a pleasure watching all of the seniors and their families take part in painting their senior parking spots.
Please communicate with your student driver to leave ample time in the morning so that they arrive on time and safely the first week of school.
Student Drop-off and parking
If you are dropping off a high school student in the morning, please follow the correct drop off procedure.
Enter the campus from Old 32. There will be a crossing guard at the high school each morning at the cross walk opposite of the score board of the stadium.
The crossing guard will have cars pull up past the cross walk to a designated cone to allow drop off.
If you are dropping off a high school student(s) and a middle school student(s), it’s best to drop both of them off at the high school. The middle school student(s) can cross at the cross walk by the score board to the stadium. The designated school crossing guard will safely escort the middle school student.
For safety reasons, the only vehicles entering into the staff and student parking lot should be employees and seniors with an assigned spot #1-#65. Our parking spots next to the high school are limited. Please do not enter this lot and occupy one of these spots.
Have a great weekend.
Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students

Welcome Back! We are so excited to see your student for the 26 - 27 school year! We look forward to seeing all of our students on the first day of school on Tuesday 8/18.
All students will get hard copies of their schedule at Open House on Monday 8/17 and as they come into school on Tuesday morning 8/18 in the main lobby. We ask that all students and parents review their HS schedules. Make sure your students have all 4 core classes if your students are in grades 9-11. Your student should have an English, a Math, a Science, and a Social Studies class for the full year.
If your student is newly enrolled this year, we will be emailing you, the parent, with scheduling information so that we can have your students schedule prepared.
Remember that students have 5 days to drop or add classes once school starts. Schedule change request forms will be available in guidance on 8/18 at 11:10. Students will have to get a schedule change request form signed by a parent in order for us to look at making any schedule modifications. We will not be making schedule changes during Open House. Students will need to follow the schedule change procedures that begin the 1st day of school.
We look forward to getting this 26-27 school year off to a great start!
