Orange Out for CRPS
Wear Orange on Tuesday, November 25
What is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)?
CRPS is a chronic pain condition that often results from abnormal nervous system functioning. While the exact cause of CRPS is unknown, it is typically triggered after an injury or nerve damage. Symptoms include pain, burning, a stinging or tearing sensation in the affected limbs, and changes in color or temperature. Please wear orange on Tuesday, November 25 to support our fellow middle schooler, Pressley Beaudry, who was diagnosed with CRPS in 1st grade. Pressley and her family recently contacted Gov. Whitmer's office to request an official proclamation to create a CRPS day in November. On November 5 they received notification declaring November 3 as CRPS Awareness day! The official proclamation is pictured below.

Ms. Sutto's Spanish class finished up their mini-unit on Latin American foods with meriendas en martes (snacks on Tuesday). Throughout the day, students were able to try foods from several countries, including tamales, pupusas, ceviche, pan de muerto, enchiladas con arroz, esquites, churros, and brigadeiro. Career Exploration with Mrs. Nellis
During November, AGS 8th graders will continue to work on their EDPs (Educational Development Plans) by completing a lesson that helps them discover their top soft skills for future employment. As opposed to hard skills, which are specific technical skills or training, such as computer programming, CPR or car maintenance, soft skills refer to personal traits like reliability, leadership, collaboration and problem solving. It is often said that a person’s hard skills get them the job and their soft skills directly affect retention and promotion in the workplace.
AGS 6th and 7th graders were given the opportunity for career exploration enrichment by signing up for “Escape the Career Fair” and “Career Jeopardy” as part of an ongoing initiative to expose students to a wide array of careers in a fun, collaborative environment.

A Note From Your PTO
The AGS PTO is run by parent volunteers, and your support—whether it's your time, knowledge, helping hands, or a donation—is essential for a successful school year full of exciting events!
This year, we are hoping to establish Parent Representatives for each grade, especially for 6th graders, to help coordinate volunteers and be a point of contact. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and help out! If you're interested in volunteering in any way, please fill out this quick form: https://forms.gle/1y3CuJ96L4WCsx5o6 Thank you, Go Tigers!
Great News! Free Meals for All Students This School Year!
We have fantastic news for the 2025-2026 School Year! The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is continuing the Michigan School Meals program, which means every student, Pre-K through 12, can eat one breakfast and one lunch for free every single school day!
What This Means for Your Family:
Free Meals for All: Your child can receive one complimentary breakfast and one complimentary lunch daily, regardless of your family's income.
Focus on Learning: The state recognizes that hungry students struggle to focus and concentrate in class. This investment ensures that all children have the nutrition they need to succeed in the classroom.
We are thrilled that all students can benefit from healthy, free meals throughout the entire school year, making mornings and lunchtimes a little easier for everyone! CLICK HERE to access all school menus.
