February 22, 2026 February 22, 2026

We hope the Hamilton community had a break full of memories and time to reset and get ready for the rest of the school year. We have many fun things to look forward to next month from enrichment to assemblies thanks to the hard work of the parent council. Our staff will continue to work on Unit 3 in Second Step to help our students not only identify problems during the school day, but also how to solve them. Be sure to check out our upcoming events link to stay in the know. We have all of our end of year celebrations, field trips, and activities already scheduled. Be sure to get your CORI/SORI in if you will be volunteering this spring.

DESE Report Card

Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. Grade 5 Residency Verification:

This fall the Weymouth School Committee updated Policy JF: School Admissions to require a verification of residency for students in Grade 5. Families of students in Grade 5 will need to re-establish residency in Weymouth before transitioning to the Maria Weston Chapman Middle School next year. This procedure will enable our district to maintain accurate residency and registration data while confirming continued enrollment eligibility. More information can be found here: Gr. 5 Residency Verification

Required proof of residency documents must be submitted between January 12, 2026, and May 29, 2026. Failure to complete residency verification by May 29, 2026 may affect your child’s enrollment, and they may not have a schedule or be able to participate in school activities at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Kindergarten Registration

“Calling all Kinders; it’s time to sign up for Kindergarten! Important information about the process can be found here: Registration Link”

National Cereal Day

To bring a little fun to the cold, dreary winter months, we will be launching a cereal drive to support the Weymouth Food Pantry. We are accepting donations of boxes of cereal through March 6, 2026. On Friday 3/6, our fifth graders will help us set up each box so we can knock it down dominoes style. Let’s see how far we can get around the school!

Fifth Grade Fun Day - Fundraiser - Five Guys

Monday March 9, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 order some food and support our fifth grade class in having the best send off party ever!

Lice Policy

WPS follows NASN and AAP guidelines that we do not exclude students from school or perform whole class checks. You do not need to report lice to the school.

Outdoor Recess

With winter approaching, we will continue to go outside for recess as long as the temperature is deemed safe. Please make sure to send your child into school with appropriate gear including a coat, hat, and gloves; all labeled with your student’s name.

Extra Set of Clothes

Please have an extra set of clothes in your child’s backpack. Even our upper elementary friends! Spills and falls happen and we do not have all sizes of backup clothing here in the nurses office.

Holiday Gift Assistance

The holidays may feel far away, but many application deadlines are coming up soon. If your family is in need of gift or food assistance this holiday season, please check out the flyer linked here.

Food Resources

In preparation for the possible impact to SNAP benefits, we’d like to remind families about our Backpack Program and the Weymouth Food Pantry.

We encourage families to explore local food resources, including the Weymouth Food Pantry, which offers multiple pop-up locations throughout the community. You can view the full Food Pantry Calendar for upcoming dates and sites.

Additionally, the Weymouth Schools Backpack Program continues to provide weekend meals for students. Families interested in participating can sign up here.

For more food and nutrition resources, please visit our Resource Guide.

If you’d like to support the Weymouth Food Pantry, here are a few ways to help.

Attendance Call Procedures

Please refer to our absence call procedure for when your child is not attending school.

Dismissal Procedure - Parents

We will have a very busy front door this year. If you are a parent waiting for Grades 1-5 students please be aware of your surroundings. Before students who are walkers are released, we will be boarding vans. We need a clear path for these students to get to their transportation home.

When you are exiting the area, please walk along the sidewalk to the crosswalk. We have staff stationed here to assist with you safely crossing. Entering the driveway anywhere but the crosswalk is not safe with cars, vans, and buses moving through.

Bus Dismissal Feed

Please click here each afternoon to know when each bus has left Hamilton for the day.

Textile Recycling Program

It’s not trash, it’s cash! Check out this flyer about our textile recycling program and how you can raise money for our school.

Weymouth Wednesdays

Staff and students are invited to join in on Weymouth Wednesdays at Hamilton. Dress in Weymouth gear or wear maroon and gold.

Attendance Counts

Having students at school and on time daily is a major part of having a successful school year both academically and socially emotionally. Please send your child to school every day, unless they have any of the prohibited symptoms. Let us know how we can help if attendance is a concern for your family.

Lunch & Breakfast

Students may bring their lunch from home or choose from the daily menu. Breakfast will be grab and go and lunch will have hot and cold options. All students will have access to meals at no cost.

Bus Expectations

We want to remind families that riding the bus is a privilege and that safety for all students is extremely important. We will continue to review behavior expectations and adjust individual plans as necessary so that all students are having a safe and enjoyable transportation experience.

Parent Council Parent Council

A large part of what makes our school community such a great place to be is the strong Parent Council organization. This is for every Hamilton parent to get involved in, whether on a small or large scale, working to bring experiences for our students that go above and beyond general school offerings.

Please consider lending a hand to this dedicated organization.

Monthly meetings are held via Zoom. Please join us whenever it fits in your schedule. No need to even turn your camera on! Each meeting we will discuss ongoing initiatives and upcoming events.

Our Parent Council President, Meri Hannon, can be contacted at twhpc1@gmail.com or on Facebook
