May 24th added as Recess Day (No School)

March 12, 2024

Dear families:

We wanted to let you know about a change to the 2023-24 School Calendar that was approved by our Board of Education at its most recent meeting.

Friday, May 24, 2024 will now be an additional day of Memorial Day Recess. This is the result of it being an exceptionally mild winter and our district not using any snow/weather/emergency days to date. So, there will not be school on Friday, May 24th or Monday, May 27th. As a reminder, our upcoming Spring Recess also includes Friday, March 29th and Monday, April 8th – the day of the Total Solar Eclipse – to bookend the Week of April 1 with no school. The Monroe County Sherriff’s Office recently issued a notice for people to limit travel and remain at their destination on April 8th due to the excessively large crowds expected in the Rochester area for the eclipse.

We hope this gives you ample planning time for these dates.

Sincerely,

Aaron R. Johnson, Ed. D

Superintendent of Schools
