News from your very proud Principal
Hello Banneker Families,
As we step into March, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our parents and caregivers who attended Parent–Teacher Conferences. Your partnership means so much. Thank you for showing up, asking questions, voicing concerns, and celebrating the successes of both our students and our staff. Together, we create the strong minds and kind hearts that define Team Banneker.
March Parent Meeting – MAP Prep Packets
As we prepare for MAP testing this spring, we will have MAP Prep Packets available for parents at our March Parent Meeting. These packets include helpful at‑home practice, tips for supporting your child, and ways to build confidence as testing approaches. We appreciate your partnership in helping students feel ready and supported.
Attendance Matters
As the weather warms up, please continue to help your child arrive on time and stay all day. Strong attendance plays a big role in academic growth, and every day of learning makes a difference.
Celebrations & Bright Spots
March brings many moments to celebrate!
- Students continue to show kindness, leadership, and academic growth.
- Teachers are working hard to provide engaging instruction as we move toward the final quarter.
- Our school community continues to model what it means to be intelligent, kind, ready to lead and learn.
Staying Connected
We encourage families to stay connected through our school website, ClassDojo, and upcoming newsletters. Your voice matters, and we always appreciate hearing from you.
Spring Break
Spring Break will take place: March 23 – March 27
We hope your family enjoys rest, time together, and a chance to recharge before we finish the year strong.
Thank you again for all you do as parents, supporters, and partners in your child’s education. Have a wonderful March, and remember—Team Banneker is always better together.
With appreciation,
Jimmie Bullard

National Reading Month
March is National Reading Month! We recognize this important month as the pathway to bigger and better things! Reading and Literacy is a particular focus in KCPS because we understand that literacy unlocks doors! This month we have attached a reading log and encourage our students and families to read at home. Students that bring back the completed log by the end of the month will receive a new book and a special prize!!
National Nutrition Month!
We recognize March as National Nutrition Month. Every day our cafeteria staff strive to provide a healthy and well balanced meal to our students....and they do a fabulous job! At home during this month, start a conversation about making healthy food choices and how choices made now can impact future health! Reach out if you want more information!
Women's History Month
In March we want to take the time to highlight the fabulous women that have made a difference in our community, state, and country. We also recognize that we are teaching the future fabulous women! Thank you to all who have come and those yet to come!
