AVA Family Update
December 21, 2025
Good afternoon AVA students and families,
Just two days of school this week. The schedule, guidance updates, community updates, and important dates are all below as per usual.
SECOND NOTICE: As we head towards break, students (especially those who have fallen behind) should take advantage of the ability to make progress in Edgenuity while school is not in session. Students who experience locked tests or need assistance should email me directly during vacations and holidays. I don't check my email constantly, but I do it often enough that students can continue to make good progress and not be left waiting until the teachers return to move forward.
Thank you for your time.

Electric Boat - Summer Jobs
A representative from General Dynamics Electric Boat visited Attleboro High School last week on Dec. 17th and spoke with our students about the plethora of job opportunities available to students starting junior year. Freshmen and sophomores are still encouraged to reach out and learn more. No job experience is necessary to get started, and pay rate begins at $22/hr with many benefits. Click HERE to learn more about high school student job opportunities. The Electric Boat high school internship applications will officially open on Jan. 19th!
ACT/SAT Spring Testing Season
AVA juniors thinking about applying to colleges next year should definitely take the winter break time to register and study for an admissions exam. It is recommended for students to take a test for the first time in spring, and then studying during the summer before taking the same exam again in the Fall to improve one's scores. Please click HERE for more info about the MA state college admissions standards regarding GPA/test score requirements for first-year applicants. It is important to note that just because a college is test-optional, it does not always mean that it is optional for you/your child if GPA is low based on the above standards.
SAT: Click HERE to register. Click HERE to find and view seat availability for an SAT test location. The Attleboro zip code is 02703. Click HERE for SAT practice exams. Click HERE for more info about SAT fee waivers.
ACT: Click HERE to register for the test. Click HERE to find an ACT test location. Click HERE for free ACT practice.
FAFSA + FAFSA Help Night
College-bound seniors and families should take the winter break to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the FAFSA priority deadlines for each school applied to. The FAFSA form can be done 100% onilne. Class of 2026 will complete the FAFSA 2026-2027 form. Be sure to first create an FSA ID if you do not have one. Students and at least one parent must each create an individual FSA ID in order to digially sign and complete the FAFSA. The AHS Guidance Dept. will host a FAFSA help night on Jan. 15th. Click HERE for the digital flyer and registration.
As always, please feel free to email me (nng@attleboroschools.com) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Have a wonderful winter break!
