COMMITTEE UPDATES

The Educational Development Committee met on October 7. At the meeting, they heard an update on the 2025 summer programs at Neshaminy including Summer Ignite, Summer PASS, Intensive Language Learning Lab, Extended School Year, and Summer Stock. Of 103 students enrolled in Ignite, 92 completed and passed their courses; 135 of 154 courses enrolled were recovered. The program gave NHS students needing credit recovery the opportunity to meet requirements alongside recreational activities such as sports, art, and ceramics.

124 students attended the Intensive Language Learning Lab this summer. Extended School Year, which provides specialized instruction for students with goals identified in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for extended school year services (academic, social, emotional, and/or life skills), took place in July and involved over 200 students. Summer Stock presented three shows with 265 students enrolled.

The committee also heard updates on scheduling option explorations for elementary schools, middle schools and the high school science program. The next Educational Development Committee meeting will Tuesday, November 18.

The Policy Committee met on October 23. They made recommendations on a number of policy updates that were presented to the full Board for a first reading at the October 28 School Board meeting.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Work Session will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 7 pm (note date change due to Veterans Day on November 11) and the Board Public Meeting on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 7 pm. All meetings will be held in the District Board Room at Maple Point. The meeting video livestream, agenda and archive video of past meetings can be found at www.neshaminy.org/meetings.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS

Attending a committee meeting is a great way to interact with School Board members and district administrators in a less formal, more conversational setting. Committee meetings are held throughout the school year. Upcoming meetings include:

  • Tuesday, November 18: Educational Development Committee
  • Wednesday, November 19: Business Operations Committee

All committee meetings are held at 6:30 pm in the District Board Room at Maple Point unless otherwise noted. Times and dates may change โ€” please check the Neshaminy district website for updates.

During their school meeting, Mrs. Moyer shared what Unity Day is all aboutโ€”encouraging students to help make our school a kind and caring place to learn. She also talked about the different types of bullying and how to be an upstander who supports others. They also took time to honor their September Students of the Month for their leadership and positivity, also to recognize the amazing custodians for all they do to keep the school safe and welcoming. It was a wonderful day of learning, appreciation, and unity!

Herbert Hoover ES teacher Samantha McGarry made several different bags to help her students have a successful Halloween and support their language and communication skills during trick or treating. For nonspeaking students, she used the top part of a board book that had 3 buttons and used double-sided tape to adhere it to the bag, so students donโ€™t need their communication devices when trick or treating. The buttons say, โ€œTrick or treat,โ€ โ€œThank you,โ€ and โ€œHappy Halloween.โ€

She also created bags with a Halloween communication board for students who have more verbal skills but may need a visual. Hoover Behavior Specialist Jess Musho asked a few teachers to help hand out sensory toys/fidgets. The students visited several classrooms to practice tricd-or-treating, as this can be difficult for some individuals. They were given a structured and safe environment to practice. It was a great experience, and the students had so much fun!

Eighth-grade AVID students from Carl Sandburg MS visited Arcadia University on October 30. The adventure kicked off at Arcadiaโ€™s iconic castle, where students learned about the universityโ€™s history, the college application process, Arcadiaโ€™s Study Abroad program and the importance of being their best selves throughout high school.

The group explored classrooms in action, checked out the gym and library, admired the campus architecture, and got a feel for college life. The visit ended on a high note (and a full stomach!) with a delicious meal in the dining hallโ€”because no college experience is complete without lunch in the caf

Students from the Art in the Community class at Neshaminy HS completed a new installation - and this one is definitely for (or at least representing) the birds. The students drew and traced multiple sizes of positive and negative crow silhouettes in order to create a dynamic visual experience using the window, sunlight, and cast shadow. This window installation is both seasonally specific and an interesting exploration in shape and image for any situation. They will explore other spaces to install this in the future.

Artwork created by talented Neshaminy HS art students is also on display at PA Representative Hoganโ€™s office in Penndel. Representative Hogan has opened his office to serve as a rotating gallery space highlighting the creativity of local students.
