From the 6-12 Principal's Office From the 6-12 Principal's Office

As this school year comes to a close, I want to share that I will be transitioning from my role as principal into the position of superintendent for our district. While my role is changing, my commitment to this school community remains the same. It has been an incredible honor to serve as your principal and to be part of the daily moments that make this school so special.

To our families: Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and the support you show our school.

To our students: You are the reason we do this work, and it has been a joy to watch you grow, achieve, and become who you are meant to be.

I am proud of all we have accomplished together, and I am grateful that I will continue to support you and this community in a new way. I will always be here for you if you need anything!

We are following our Portrait of a Graduate all year! See the graphic below to learn more.

Did you know... Why attendance matters?

  1. Missed Lessons = Falling Behind: Even one day can mean missing critical instructions and activities, making it harder for your child to catch up.

  2. Impact on Future Success: Consistent attendance strongly predicts academic achievement and future opportunities.

  3. Building Resilience: Regular attendance teaches your child the value of perseverance and responsibility—essential life success skills.

  4. Stronger Friendships: Daily presence helps your child develop and sustain friendships crucial for emotional and social development.

  5. Healthy Routine: Attending school daily establishes a stable routine, promoting better mental and physical health.

  • Automated letters will also go out if you miss 5 days. The letter will explain the days you missed. Another letter will go out if you miss 10 days. As per Illinois State Law, students can't miss that 10th day without further action. Unfortunately, if your child does miss 10 or more days (excused or unexcused), the days will be marked as unexcused unless you bring in a doctor’s note.

Jr High Only:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

  • We want to remind everyone that energy drinks are not allowed at school for our JH students. These beverages contain high amounts of caffeine and other stimulants that can cause health concerns and make it difficult for students to focus and learn effectively.

Please help us by ensuring your child does not bring energy drinks to school. Water, milk, and juice are great alternatives that keep students hydrated and ready to learn. If they have them, they will be asked to put them away and not brought back. If this continues, I will be contacting the specific parents.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school a healthy environment for all students.

High School Only:

IVVC STUDENTS:

Just a reminder, you are not allowed to leave after 4th period, before the bus leaves, without permission.

Move This World Family Resources

We use this in our Academy classes. We purchased the Family account if you would like to log in and explore.

Dear Families,

To support our students’ social emotional needs and mental health, we are using a video-based social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum from Move This World. I’m excited to share that you’ll be able to access this helpful curriculum at home, too!

Social emotional learning is how students learn to process and manage emotions as well as important social skills. It includes everything from goal setting to stress management, and it provides both children and adults with tools they can use to express themselves authentically and safely. SEL helps students build healthy relationships, communicate effectively, and live a meaningful life.
