A Message from Mr. Larsen

Hello, KMMS families,

I hope this message find you healthy and well. We have had a busy month at KMMS. One of my favorite days of the year is our annual KMMS Community Service Day. We use this as an opportunity to provide service and gratitude to the Kasson and Mantorville communities. We are so thankful for the generous support we receive from our community, and it is our simple way of giving back. A special thank you to the numerous community members and businesses who allowed us into their yards and businesses. This day would not happen without your support!

The students are eager and excited for Halloween, and I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful night trick-or-treating throughout our communities. I am hopeful to see some of our students and families at Mayo High School tonight, as the KoMets take on the Byron Bears for the Section Championship. Please know the time changed to 4:00 pm. If I don't see you, have a wonderful weekend.

Lost and Found

We have a number of items in our Lost and Found. Please feel free to visit the commons before or after school to claim your child(ren)'s belongings. Anything not picked up by Friday, November 7, 2025, will be donated.

Winter Clothing

Please make sure your child comes to school with adequate winter clothing. 5th and 6th grade students have recess daily. The only time we have inside recess is when the temperature or wind chill falls below 0. We encourage all students to get fresh air daily, so this message is meant to include 7th and 8th grade students too. If your child needs winter gear, please do not hesitate to contact the middle school office at 507-634-4030.

Eagle Bluff for 6th Grade

Early next week, our 6th graders will head to Lanesboro, MN for three days and two nights. Our Eagle Bluff overnight field trip is a great experience for our 6th grade students. The programming aims to provide a:

  • fostering sense of respect, stewardship, and community
  • impart life-skills, such as teamwork and problem-solving
  • increase environmental awareness and academic literacy
  • promote positive outdoor experiences
  • spark curiosity and appreciation for the natural world

Please make sure you review the expectations and packing list with your 6th grade students before Monday. As of now, the weather will vary, but looks pleasant. Please dress in layers and bring clothes that can get wet and muddy. We are looking forward to this event - thank you in advance to those who have volunteered their time to assist with our students. It is greatly appreciated.

Important Dates

As you can see below, we have a busy November ahead of us. Please take a moment and view the happenings at KMMS and throughout our community.

Thank you for your continued partnership with Kasson-Mantorville Middle School. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.

Together in KoMet Pride,

Josh Larsen

Principal
