Christie's Corner
Fall is in the air! The temperature is dropping and pumpkin spice seems to be all over the place. What a great time of year! Thank you very very much to our families who came and supported our Harvest Festival. We wouldn't be able to do these fun activities without your support and volunteer time. The kids LOVED exploring the activities. Also, thank you to Zima Creason for coming and judging our doors. The winners were: Most Creative - Amanda's room; Best Theme: Nurses; Student Participation - Kelly B's room.
November Bulletin Board
A special thank you to room 22 for decorating the bulletin board in the office this month. The students did a fantastic job of creating hand turkeys and corn as well as saying what they are thankful for this season.
November Food Drive
In an effort to support our families who might be experiencing food insecurities, we are running a food drive from November 12 - November 21. Please only donate items that you can spare. Most needed items include: Canned or whole beans, rice, lentils, pasta, ramen, cereal, oatmeal, shelf-stable milk, peanut butter, Nutella, spaghetti sauce, canned soup, canned or dry fruit, crackers, snack bars, and cake mixes.
If you happen to be experiencing food insecurity, Sacramento County has many food banks. Click on this link to find a food bank near you: https://healthedcouncil.org/file_download/inline/01336e1f-30aa-45e8-8eed-6242473f72ac
If you feel comfortable, and you need assistance, if you share that need with our staff, we will try to help connect you to resources. Please either inform your classroom teacher or email Christie at cwaldron@sanjuan.edu
Sees' Candy Fundraiser
M.O.V.E. Moment
M.O.V.E. stands for Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience and is a San Juan sponsored activity-based program designed to teach children with severe disabilities the functional motor skills needed to sit, stand, and walk as independently as possible. We have students and staff working very hard on this every day!
Meet Surah! Surah has begun using a gait trainer to help with walking and standing, while supported. The gait trainer keeps her safe as she learns to take steps, turn, and eventually walk backward! Keep up the great work Surah!!!
