Superintendent's Report- October 2026
Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools Community,
Autumn is here, and as the seasonal temperatures continue throughout the week, please join me in cheering on our Bees who approach conference championships and post-season competition. To those teams whose schedules are now completed, thank you for the time, self-sacrifice, and efforts you invested to representing the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools. Our advisors and coaches are to be commended as well. Thank you for the tremendous fall season of interscholastic athletics and extracurricular activities.
Community Encouraged to Take Survey! Scan QR Code Nearby!
As many in the community know, helping to create opportunities to empower citizens is a central component of the mission of the BBHCSD. Through various online, phone, and email survey research, in-person gatherings, and one-on-one meetings, the district has helped gather data about what’s important to our community when it comes to education. BBHCSD has joined thousands of school districts across the country in a first-of-its- kind study of public confidence in K–12 education, led by AASA, The National School Superintendents Association, in partnership with ThoughtExchange. Strong schools build strong communities, and everyone who lives, works, or does business here has a stake in how ours are doing. Tell us what’s working well, what would strengthen your confidence, and what our students need most. What we hear locally comes straight back to our district. If you are a community member, please use the nearby QR code, or use this link, which should be accessible until November 1st. Thank you for your continued support and feedback!

Our regularly scheduled Bee Engaged Coffee Talk will take place tomorrow morning on Thursday, October 22nd, at 9 a.m. at Panera Bread. Be sure stop by, and bring your questions! District finances, actions downstate in Columbus, the facilities upgrades, state report card results, student milestones, and more have all been topics for conversation. You are invited! We hope to see you at Panera Bread!

State of the Schools Presentation Tuesday, October 27th, 2026 at 7 p.m. at BBHHS
Mark your calendar for next Tuesday, October 27th when district leaders will host our 3rd annual State of the Schools presentation, entitled: Exceptional Excellence, Unmatched Value, at 7 p.m. in the High School cafeteria. During this presentation, a comprehensive review of the educational experience in our district will be presented, including important financial data, a summary of achievements, and more. The annual State of the School presentation aligns with our third year of the BBHCSD strategic plan and serves as our first Bee Empowered Key Communicators presentations of the school year. Hope to see you there.
Join the Community Finance Committee
Treasurer Craig Yaniglos has worked hard to diligently assemble the Community Finance Committee, a citizen-based group of residents who meet several times a year to review district finances, share input, and ask important questions. Now in its second full year of meeting, the committee is seeking a handful of replacement members to fill open spots. If you are interested in joining the Community Finance Committee, please use the nearby link, which will be open for interested registrants until the end of the month. Thank you for your interest.

Arsenii Liashchynskyi CVCC Student of the Month
The BBHCSD congratulates Arsenii Liashchynskyi for being named Student of the Month at the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center. Arsenii is enrolled in the Media Arts program, and is developing his skills in producing and editing videos. For Arsenii, the Media Arts program is a place where he has been able to get creative, learn new skills, and explore a practical hands-on learning opportunity. In the process of being a student at CVCC, he has earned his Adobe Certified Professional certification in Digital Video, among other credentials. He hopes to use the talents and creativity for a career in video editing or visual effects. Congratulations, Arsenii, and great job in developing the critical life skills at a post-secondary age, while preparing for your future career opportunities.
Preschool Students Involved in Many Initiatives and Activities
Integrating Reading with Sensory Learning
At Stepping Stone Preschool, learning takes place through play and multi-sensory activities. After reading Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, our Stepping Stone Preschool students explored their senses of touch and smell through a fun, hands-on activity! Students used their feet to feel different textures and their noses to smell different scents while sharing what they noticed and discovered. A special thank you to our dedicated Stepping Stone Preschool staff for providing our students with engaging learning experiences.
Officer Mark Visiting with Students
BBHCSD School Resource Officer Mark visited Stepping Stone Preschool in early October to talk with students about safety, what he does to help others, and how he keeps our community safe. Since wheels, vehicles, and community members are also part of the school’s curriculum, students had the opportunity to see Officer Mark’s safety vehicle and learn how it is used as part of his job. This was a fun visit that helped students make connections between classroom learning and the important work of a police officer, which is keeping people safe.
Thank You for Your Continued Support!
All of these accomplishments, milestones, fun initiatives, and opportunities provide an elite experience, and make the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools a special place. Thank you to the community, for all you do, to support, uplift, and affirm our students and staff. Hope to see you at tomorrow’s Coffee Talk and next week’s State of the Schools!
GO BEES!
Sincerely,
Jeffrey D. Harrison
