Dear College Park Elementary Families,

We have five days to get ready to showcase our leadership as we prepare for our Leader in Me Lighthouse Certification visit.

Please make sure your child wears their school uniform on Tuesday, March 17 as we welcome our reviewers to campus.

Reminder:

  • Monday, March 16 – No School for Students

  • Tuesday, March 17 – Students should arrive in uniform and ready to lead

During the visit, our school community will have the opportunity to demonstrate the leadership culture our students practice every day. Visitors will observe classrooms, speak with students, and learn about the work happening across our school.

Students will:

  • Share their Leadership Binders

  • Talk with reviewers about their goals and learning

  • Demonstrate how they practice leadership with self, others, and learning

Families and community partners will also participate in interviews with the review team.

Our teachers are working hard this week to prepare classrooms, organize student work, and refresh learning spaces as we continue strong teaching and learning this spring.

How families can support:

  • Ensure students arrive to school on time

  • Make sure students wear their uniforms on Tuesday, March 17

If your family needs assistance with uniforms, please contact the school as soon as possible. We have limited uniform bottoms available, but we do have house shirts we can provide if needed.

Thank you for helping us show the reviewers what makes College Park Elementary a leadership school. We are excited for our students to share their voice, their goals, and their leadership.

With appreciation,

Dr. Maisha N. Otway

Principal, College Park Elementary School

Read Across America Day

. On Monday, we celebrated Read Across America Day at College Park Elementary! Our scholars enjoyed a day centered around the joy of reading and literacy. All student leaders had the opportunity to select three books of their choice from our Love of Literacy Book Fair to add to their personal libraries. Throughout the day, classrooms welcomed special guest readers who shared their favorite stories. Scholars also enjoyed a popcorn and refresher station while celebrating reading together. Our 3rd–5th grade scholars even put on their detective hats to solve a fun literacy mystery, making the day both engaging and memorable for everyone.
