Learning about the Dewey Decimal System

To continue practicing with the Dewey Decimal System, Ms. Ready has students search the nonfiction shelves for books in different Dewey categories to compare their finds with each other on sticky notes. The Dewey Decimal System is used in most school and public libraries in the U.S. and learning the system helps students headed for college who will then learn the Library of Congress cataloging system.

Freshman orientation and high school newsletter

The high school library is busy for our new high school library teacher, Mrs. Kinsman, previously the library teacher at Norwell Middle School. Freshman orientation includes instruction on how to use the library resources and how to implement the many bibliographic skills students have learned in grades 5-8, including citing sources, creating bibliographies, and using NoodleTools for it all. Mrs. Kinsman also has a regular newsletter about new releases and library use (click on link below to see more).
