We strive to celebrate our students' success whether academically or socially and we invite you (in advance) to participate. Each day, every month, and each marking period we will celebrate our students' academic, attendance, and social choices through the following:
- Academics: Honor roll assemblies, random celebrations based on content areas such as reading, math, science, and writing, increasing their progress on I-Ready assessments, work being displayed in the classroom/hallway.
- Attendance: Classrooms are acknowledged daily for having perfect attendance and students are recognized individually for having perfect attendance at the end of each marking period.
- Behavior: We recognize a student of the month in each classroom; students demonstrating our character trait of the month, and monthly & quarterly celebrations for students (by marking period). We will continue with our House celebrations and monthly challenges on our early release days. We want you to join our House Celebrations!
"It Takes a Village to Raise a Child" is an African proverb that has and continues to motivate my leadership style as we work collaboratively to guide our students in reaching their fullest potential. It is imperative that we all wrap our hands around our babies so that they are able to strive academically and socially.
We look forward to an exciting and engaging year of teaching and learning for our students. #RisingTogether!
Educationally yours,
Mrs. Tiffany Brooks
Principal

A Strong Start Begins with Expectations
Ask your child what they learned about our school expectations this week and how they earned house points!
Literacy Tips from the Reading Coach - Mrs. Rogers
Back to School: Build a Reading 🎒📖
As the school year winds down, keep reading and writing part of daily life. Make a summer reading list together and encourage your child to write about their summer plans. Ending the year with strong habits sets the tone for summer success.
Math Tips with Mrs. Gloster-Pou
Math is Everywhere 📐
Parent Tip: Help your child see math in every day life.
- Count school supplies together.
- Sort items by color, size, or shape.
- Practice recognizing numbers on houses, mailboxes, and license plates.
- Ask, "How many more do we need?" during shopping trips.
"The best way to support your child's math success is to talk about math every day. Positive attitudes, encouragement, and real-world practice help children become confident mathematicians!"

Pre-K Parent Orientation
Edward E. Taylor Elementary School held its Pre-K Parent Orientation on August 11, 2026, offering two sessions - one in the morning and one in the afternoon - to accommodate families' schedules.
Parents received valuable resources to help support their children's transition into Pre-K, along with free books to take home and enjoy with their children. We are excited to partner with our Pre-K families as we begin a wonderful school year!
A special thank you to Mrs. Wallace (Assistant Principal); Ms. Stout (Pre-K teacher); and everyone who helped make this event such a great success! We truly appreciate your support and the great turnout!
