DGE January Reminders

We’ve recently experienced several near-miss accidents around pick-up and drop off times caused by vehicles entering the parking lot through the exit side of the driveway, creating a dangerous situation for everyone.

To ensure safety, please refrain from entering the lot through the exit side of the driveway. If you need to come into the school and cannot get into the parking lot due to the pick-up/drop off line, we kindly ask that you park on the street and walk in.

For drop-off in the morning, parents may begin entering the school parking lot and drop off line at 7:55 AM. If you enter earlier, you will be asked to pull through and reenter. In the afternoon, parents picking up students can enter at 2:30 PM, and on Early Release Fridays, entry for pick-up is 12:10 PM. This helps ensure that staff, delivery drivers, and others have access to the building.

Parents should enter the parking lot off 37th Street, with the drop-off/pick-up lane located right in front of the school. Please do not enter from Jasper Road, as this is the designated bus entrance. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping keep our parking lot safe and efficient for all.

When calling the school, some of you may have noticed that our options have changed. Please make certain that you are directing your call to the correct option. Option 1 - Main office, Option 2 - Attendance, Option 3 - Health Room, Option 4 - Spanish.

Happy New New year from your friendly neighborhood PTO. We wanted to share what we have been up to! We hope you have noticed our presence at the school music performances. We have been selling tasty treats to help raise money for the music department. Our goal is to have a bake sale at every music performance. We had a new fundraiser this semester, Clubs Choice, and it was quite successful. These funds will be used towards field trips and popcorn Fridays. We have more things planned for next semester.

The PTO Board’s major goal is to create a community within the DGE families. To help facilitate that goal, we plan to have some more movie nights and even a bingo night after the winter break. Of course we will be doing our end of the year event as well. If you would like to volunteer, join the PTO or even give feedback, please join our Facebook group Douglas Gardens PTO Volunteers. This page will always give the most up to date information on all the happenings within the PTO.

Hope to see you all at our next event!
