Principal's Message
Greetings Woodside Families!
A Strong Start to 2026โ27!
We are off to a strong start to the 2026โ27 school year! Thank you to everyone who joined us for Open House. We hope you enjoyed our updated approach to the traditional curriculum night.
Our students loved showing their families around, sharing highlights from their classrooms, and introducing you to our Music, Library, STEM, PE, and other special programs. One of my favorite parts of the evening was enjoying popsicles together at the end and having the opportunity to briefly connect with so many families. Thank you for making the evening such a wonderful celebration of our Woodside community!
Learning, Behavior & Belonging
At Woodside, we are committed to rigorous instruction that engages, challenges, and supports every learner. At the beginning of each school year, we also spend intentional time establishing routines, practicing procedures, and teaching our school-wide behavior expectations. These foundational lessons help create a learning environment where all students can feel safe, included, and ready to learn.
Our teachers are currently teaching and reinforcing both SOAR expectations and RULER lessons throughout the school day.
SOAR Expectations
Students are learning and practicing our school-wide expectations for being:
- Safe
- On-task
- Academic Attitude
- Respect & Responsibility
RULER Lessons
Students are developing emotional intelligence by learning to:
- Recognize emotions
- Understand the causes and consequences of emotions
- Label emotions accurately
- Express emotions appropriately
- Regulate emotions effectively
PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)
Our school-wide PBIS approach focuses on:
- Explicitly teaching positive behaviors in all settings
- Providing support and intervention when expectations are not met
- Recognizing and celebrating students when they demonstrate our SOAR expectations
Student Safety
Keeping students safe is our highest priority. We work closely with all Everett Public Schools and local emergency responders to develop, review, and practice emergency procedures throughout the school year.
Each month, students participate in safety drills that help them understand what to do in different emergency situations:
- ๐ฅ Fire Drills: Students practice evacuating the building and lining up at designated locations on the playground.
- ๐ Earthquake Drills: Students practice โDrop, Cover, and Hold Onโ before evacuating when appropriate.
- ๐ Lockdown Drills: Students practice securing classrooms, turning off lights, and moving to designated safe locations.
These drills are designed to be developmentally appropriate while helping students and staff build confidence and familiarity with our emergency procedures.
In the Event of an Emergency
If an emergency occurs at Woodside, please remember:
- Students will only be released to adults listed on their emergency contact information, and photo identification will be required.
- Please make sure your child's emergency contact information is current and up to date.
- Please do not call the school during an emergency. Our phone lines need to remain available for emergency responders and critical communication.
- Families will receive updates through ParentSquare as quickly as possible when information is available.
We are confident in the preparation of our Woodside staff, and we are grateful for your partnership in keeping our students safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Additional Safety Reminders for ALL Families
Bus Rider Families
Please review bus expectations with your child. It is essential that all students follow these rules to ensure the safety of both the driver and passengers. The school bus should be treated like any other mode of transportation.
If your bus is equipped with seatbelts, it is required by law that they are worn at all times. You can view a helpful video on seatbelt safety here: Seatbelt Safety Video.
Thank you for helping us keep all students safe on the bus.
Walking Families
Please use sidewalks and crosswalks when walking to and from school.
Weโve noticed more families crossing outside of crosswalks and cutting through bus-only lanes at both the front and back of the school.
Thank you for modeling safe walking habits and keeping all students safe!
Biking Families
All students and families will soon be required to sign a bike rider agreement.
Bicycles, scooters, and all other modes must walk to and from the main gate in the parking lot. Students may not actively ride on-campus.
Car Rider Families
Our buses are having difficulty exiting the parking lot safely.
Please do not park directly across from driveway exits or right up to the driveway. Blocking these areas makes it harder for buses to turn safely and creates a safety hazard.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
