Dear Families,
Thank yous: Last Sunday volunteers from the Weybridge Congregational Church came to spruce up the gardens in front of the school. Megan Sutton came to guide the work of an amazing crew of avid gardeners including: Peggy & John Myer, Jeff Olsen, Steve Smith, Tim & Arlinda Wicklend, Justice DeVres, Caryne Eskridge and John Baker.
Lunch help: We welcome and need lunch volunteers each week day from 11:00-12:00ish. It’s a lovely way to see many of the children and invaluable support to the meals program. If you would like to volunteer please sign up on this calendar. We are all set for next week!!! If you can sign up for days ahead, please do.
Bus reminders: Please note that we expect that all students in Kindergarten and 1st grade will have an adult meeting them as they get off the bus or that they will get off with an older sibling.
Attendance:
Please build the habit of consistent attendance.
If your child is going to be absent due, for example, to illness or a medical appointment, please contact Rachel Chapman as soon as possible - rchapman@acsdvt.org or text 802-349-5305.
*Important recent clarification: Planned absences for personal or educational purposes” must be approved by the principal for 1 or 2 days; by the superintendent for 3 or more days. Generally, these are approved unless the requested absence is during a testing window. When requesting approval for 3 or more days, please submit the request directly to the superintendent (email is fine) and copy the principal. Attending programs such as the Forest School are not excused absences.
Arrival time: Reminder that expected time for arrival is between 7:45-7:55. The school day starts at 7:45 so it is ideal for your child to arrive as close to that time as possible so they can transition into the school day in a relaxed way.
Information packets: If you haven’t already sent in the information packet distributed the first day, please do so as soon as possible. It is particularly important for us to have health forms and emergency contacts on file.
Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301).
Rest up for the 5 day week! So glad we could ease into it. Christina
Volunteers from Weybridge Congregational Church
Hello Weybridge families,
It's time for our annual Snake Mountain hike! Join Weybridge Elementary friends, families, and alums on Saturday, September 27th (rain date Sunday, September 28th) at 9:30 am for this fun tradition. There will be pastries, pups, and positive vibes. Let's hope for a clear day for that well-earned panorama of our beautiful Champlain Valley and the Adirondacks!
Kelsey Eberly (Conrad's mom) will "lead" the hike, but everyone can go at their own pace and we'll meet up at the top. It's about an hour's climb -- a steady uphill on a wide trail (AllTrails.com lists it as "moderate"--see hikers' reviews for more information). As always, there will be no designated chaperone, so please make sure your kids are being minded and/or that they know where they're going!
We'll meet at 9:30 in the parking lot next to the trailhead on the Addison (not the Weybridge!) side of the mountain, on Mountain Road just north of Wilmarth Road Extension, and will set off on the trail around 9:45. We recommend wearing layers and sturdy hiking shoes or athletic shoes, and bringing whatever you'll need to be comfortable walking in the woods--bug spray & sunscreen, hiking poles, and plenty of water and snacks. Binoculars are great to have at the top, too.
If the forecast looks stormy, we'll call it on Friday night and plan to meet the following day, Sept. 28th--same time, same place.
Look forward to seeing you there!
Kelsey, Alison, and Erin
