If your student will miss 3 or more days of school due to a planned reason, use the Pre-arranged Absence Form available in the Attendance Office or on the Sheldon Website.
Our new schedule this year makes attendance crucial for students' academic success, and it's extremely important they attend bell to bell. We are seeing a number of students in the building, but not attending their whole classes. We want to remind you that we have multiple codes for attendance:
Arriving to class marked VL (very late)
Leaving early without permission, or asking to leave early for another reason
Missing class entirely
As you look at your student’s attendance in ParentView please ask your student about any attendance codes that may be coming up. If you need help signing up for ParentVue please do not hesitate to call Sheldon High School and we can help set that up for you.

Cell Phone Policy
At Sheldon, we want every student to be fully present in their learning. That’s why our policy is simple: during class, phones and personal electronic devices should be off and away. Cell phones can not be used during class time anywhere in the building, including the classroom, hallways, or restrooms. Headphones and earbuds should also be put away during class. Devices may be used before and after school. Students are NOT allowed to use phones from 8:30-3:30
Here’s the “why” behind this expectation:
Focus on learning – Students learn best without digital distractions.
Respect for others – Attention stays on teachers and peers.
Future-ready habits – Builds professional norms for college and careers.
Stronger connections – Encourages students to engage with people, not screens.
By following this policy, we can keep our classrooms distraction-free and focused on what matters most: learning and growing together.
