Felicity's First Flight
With positive self talk and hard work you can do anything!
Today, we were delighted to welcome author Megan Moneypenny to Francestown Elementary School, where she shared her uplifting new book, Felicity's First Flight. Felicity, a butterfly who didn’t have the easiest start in life, discovers an egg and takes on the challenge of giving it the best chance to thrive. Along the way, she learns to care for herself.
Felicity's First Flight teaches us that no matter where we come from, we all have the power to grow and the potential to soar.
Megan also left each student a special bracelet and bookmark to remind them that they can achieve anything when they believe in themselves.
Welcome to Kindergarten with Ms. Curley!
Learning Through Exploration
This week in Kindergarten students got their own desks and computers! Students have anxiously awaited the arrival of their chromebooks. They have enjoyed using their computers for math games and reading at their own desks!
First and Second Grade with Ms. Sanchez
What's So Special About a Dot?
DOT DAY! What can you do with a dot?! The students got sooo creative and they will be hanging for all to see next week at Open House!
Ms. Parisi's Third and Fourth Graders!
Are You Faster Than a Dinosaur?
This past week Ms. Parisi's class has worked more with the zones and how certain times of the day may impact how we are feeling.
We also got to see if we could beat a Dinosaur in a foot race! Look for the yellow sticky note in the picture! If your student passed that, that means they would have beat the dinosaur!

Green, Blue, Yellow, Red: What Color Are you Today?
Ever felt like your body and brain were moving too fast or too slow? What do you do to help regulate yourself? The students at FES are learning how to do just that. Recognizing feelings is complicated. When students are able to do this they can focus on problem solving and their learning. Managing those thoughts and feelings helps students to feel motivated and engaged in their learning. The Zones of Regulation organize those feelings into zones and colors. The blue zone is when you are feeling slow in your body or brain. The yellow is an increase in the intensity and size of your thoughts and feelings. The red zone is when your thoughts and feelings are out of control. The green zone is when your brain and body are ready to learn. All feelings are okay. We are working on strategies to manage them to enhance our ability to grow as learners.
