Each summer our maintenance & custodial crews work tirelessly to ensure our building is ready to go for the start of the new year. This summer presented an even greater challenge as air conditioning was installed. A special thank you to Gregory, Paulette, Carl & Pat for all your hard work! Thank you to our teachers and staff for your patience. To our families, we still have a few areas needing some additional work. However, all the finishing touches will be completed in time when our parents and guardians visit us on Back to School Nights. The good news is that our entire building will have central air, making it all worth the wait!
Thank you to our PTG for hosting the "Glenwood Playground Meet Ups." It was such a fun way for students and families to visit with friends and classmates!
Kindergarten Dash - Come Cheer them On!
We are inviting all incoming Kindergarten students to our KINDERGARTEN DASH on Friday September 5th! Kindergarten students are invited to run the length of the turf field together before our 7 pm first home football game! We will provide all Kindergarten students with a "Future LION" t-shirt they can wear for the event.
Our Penncrest Lions face Haverford High School - kick off 7 pm... enjoy our Roaring Lions Marching Band halftime show... support our senior class by purchasing a snack (or dinner) at the concession stand... stock up on Penncrest football swag at the booster tent... what better way to KICK OFF the upcoming school year!!!
Kindergarten students should plan to arrive at 6:15 p.m. and meet on the track at 6:30 p.m. (near the scoreboard end of the field). Dash will be held at 6:40 p.m. Students will be asked to quickly leave the field after the run to allow the football team time to warm up. This is NOT a drop-off event. We ask only one parent/guardian on the field with your Kindergarten student (no siblings).
Admission for the football game is $5/adult (ages 12 and older), cash only, please try to have exact change. For any questions, please contact penncrestathleticboosters@gmail.com.
Upcoming School Year Calendars
Both documents can be found on the calendar page, all events/activities have been added to our school calendar.
PTG Updates
Homeroom Representatives
PTG is currently looking for Homeroom Representative volunteers! As a homeroom rep, you will facilitate communication between parents and teacher, principal and PTG. You will also support the teacher as needs arise including classroom parties and events. It is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to your child's school experience!
Please fill out the below form via Membership Toolkit completely and submit by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th. Include up to 3 preferences. Once the list is confirmed, you will receive an email notification of your assigned classroom. Ideally, we'd like to have two homeroom parents per classroom. The homeroom coordinator will be the primary contact between the teacher and classroom parents when planning classroom events and activities. Homeroom Rep Sign Up
ALL HOMEROOM PARENTS MUST HAVE THEIR CLEARANCES ON FILE WITH THE DISTRICT.
To complete your clearances, refer to our district website. Once you have obtained the necessary paperwork, please submit all three forms to the Glenwood Main Office.
Thank you for volunteering and we look forward to a great school year!
Volunteer Oportunities
The following PTG committees are looking for anyone interested in helping out. The good news is there is already someone coordinating so if you are the type of person who doesn’t like to be in charge but want to help out, this would be perfect for you .
BINGO NIGHT, TRUNK OR TREAT, DECORATING COMMITTEE, FARE, YEARBOOK, FIELD DAY, SUPPLY KITS, MLK DAY OF SERVICES, AND HOSPITALITY!
VOLUNTEER CLEARANCES
All guests and volunteers (including Homeroom parents) must have their clearances on file with the district. Click here: OBTAINING CLEARANCES FOR VOLUNTEERS & CHAPERONES
Once you have obtained all THREE portions of the clearances, we must verify them at school. We must see the ORIGINAL FBI clearance (printed with a light blue background and it will be USPS <snail> MAILED to you - - we cannot accept the email!). You can bring all three portions with you during our Open House, send them in with your student (we will make a copy and send them back home), or stop by the office. Please only send in when all THREE have been completed, our HR Department will not accept them separately. You will receive email verification once we have received all three copies and you have been confirmed as a volunteer.
Have some downtime this summer? Now is a perfect time to work on getting your clearances! Clearances are valid for FIVE (5) years, if you are unsure your expiration, email Coleen Fickes: cfickes@rtmsd.org.
