Happy First Day of the 2025-26 School Year! I am very excited to be your BT Coordinator and support each of you this year.

Beginning Teacher Requirements - This document shows the requirements and expectations for each year of your induction program. You can print this out and use it at a checklist.

Biggest change for this year - ALL teachers in the BTSP MUST submit a classroom management plan to Beckie Bishop. Click Here for the GCSP template. You do not have to use this template, however, all components on the template must be addressed.

Reminder - All Beginning Teachers that attended NTO July 22 - 24, 2024 must send or share your classroom management plan with me. Friday, August 8, 2025 was the due date.

BTs with zero years of experience will receive compensation for attending NTO. BTs who attended NTO and have .5 or more years of experience will receive flex time for each day you attended. Please keep in mind that you must complete all requirements, including sharing your classroom management plan with me for compensation or flex time to be rendered. The BT Shared Folder houses all the Beginning Teachers resources. If you do not have access to it please email me and I will make sure you do.

Welcome back! I am excited to work with each of you this year! From day one I want you to know how much I believe in you and the work you do each day to support your BT(s) and ensure their success during their novice years.

Please plan to attend our Annual BTSP Mentor Update on August 19th from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. It is virtual and required. During this time we will review the BTSP Update which includes a few changes this year. Your attendance is vital! I will share the registration and a calendar invite next week.

Please remember to document all your support on the BTSP Support Timeline or you can choose to make a copy of the Google Doc for each BT so you have a running record of your support throughout the semester. Please make sure that you share it with me.

The Mentor Shared Folder has been shared with you. Please let me know if you have difficulty accessing any of the resources or have questions.

Please be sure to add your school-based support sessions on the spreadsheet. August and April are required. Please work with your administrators to determine the other 3 months you will host a school-based support session.

Professional Development:

All required courses that were in Canvas have been moved to Google Classroom.
You will not receive an email invitation. The link to join those classes on the GCPS Required Training Checklist 25-26 below.
Medication Administration Training for Designated Staff is no longer required. It has been replaced with CPR & Medication Awareness. This is required for all field trips.
All required courses that are in Vector can be accessed now and the link is included on the checklist.
The letters with directions for the Student Mental Health modules are also included. Please click the appropriate letter for your situation.
Note: There have been some changes made to these modules including, once you have completed the mandatory Plan 6 or New to GCPS one time, all following years you will only be required to complete the Plan 2/Returning Staff.
The Workplace Safety module is set up as a Training Plan, just like last year. It should appear when you log into Vector.
Please complete the evaluation for your session(s) on Convocation as soon as you receive the email with the link. This will ensure that you receive credit.
You do not need to register in Wisdomwhere for any of these required PD modules.
