Halloween Activities and Costume Guidelines Halloween Activities and Costume Guidelines

Happy Halloween
zoom_out_map

We are excited to announce that we will be having our Halloween parade again this year. It will begin at 9:15 am. Please send your child to school in their costume if they want to participate. After the parade, all students will be removing their costumes for the remainder of the day.

With Halloween coming up, we need to be aware of our district costume guidelines. I will attach the document below. Please read through these guidelines carefully to ensure your student's costume will be allowed at school. These guidelines apply to all costumes, no matter the holiday (Halloween, Thanksgiving, school play, etc.).

Here are a few important things to remember:

  • No masks or weapons of any kind (including claws, light sabers, etc.)
  • Students may not dress up as an ethnic or cultural group or color faces to represent another race or ethnicity.
  • Costumes must be family friendly. Nothing gory, threatening, or offensive.

Attached is the parade route for parents to watch. Students will exit through the south exit at the library doors and circle around the playground black top. We invite all parents who can join us to line up around the parade route to see the fun costumes on display.

Teachers will notify you about the time of their class parties.

Centerville Eagles are Attentive!

This month our students will be working on building their skills of attentiveness. They will practice being attentive listeners during class and when anyone speaks to them. At home, you can also practice this skill. When you speak to your child, help them remember to make eye contact with you, face you and have a listening posture, help them practice listening, reflecting, and following up with good questions when applicable, and then following through with anything they have been asked to do. Encourage your child to complete the activity for the month and to help practice the skill of being an attentive listener.

Sharp Survey for Sixth Graders Sharp Survey for Sixth Graders

Between October 1–30, Centerville Elementary will administer the Student Health and Risk Prevention (SHARP) Survey to students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12. SHARP has given us insight into what our students are facing for more than 20 years, helping parents know what to talk about with their kids and helping schools, health departments, and community partners better support students.

Only students whose parents gave consent earlier this year, during the registration processes, will take part. Participation is voluntary, students may skip questions or stop at any time without penalty. All responses are anonymous and confidential. Questions? Contact Principal Williams at Centerville Elementary, or visit the district's Assessment & Surveys page. For SHARP FAQs and statewide results, visit sumh.utah.gov/data-reports/sharp-survey.
