Patriot Pen Essay Contest
"In October, all Team 8B Civics students participated in the annual Patriot's Pen Essay contest. The contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief.
Discussing the importance of living in America and the sacrifices our Armed Forces make to protect our democracy, rights, and freedoms-students were inspired to write their essay on this year’s theme, “My Voice in America's Democracy?"
I am very proud of my students for writing such beautiful entries, which were all submitted to the 2024 Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest via the Stoughton VFW, Post 1645. The 2024 Patriot’s Pen winners are Safiya Griffiths (1st), Kaitlyn Mitchell (2nd), and Isabella Carrara (3rd).
Mr. Michael Pazyra presented prizes to the winners at the O’Donnell Middle School on November 12, 2024. Mrs. Valair also collaborated with the Stoughton Veterans Agent to have the winners read their essays at the annual Veterans Day ceremonies in Stoughton on Monday, November 11th."

Winter Sports Registration is Open
Winter sports registration is now open! The deadline to register is November 29th.
We will be offering the following middle school winter sports:
- Girls Basketball
- Boys Basketball
- Co-Ed Wrestling
We will also have an OMS Dance Team that will perform at home basketball games.
Students interested in participating in winter sports or dance team will need to register through Family ID, have a physical on file in the OMS clinic, complete IMPACT concussion testing, and meet eligibility requirements (see pages 12-13 of the handbook). As a reminder, these activities are open to eligible students in Grades 7 & 8. If there are not enough students to make a team, these activities will open up to eligible students in Grade 6.
There will be try-outs for basketball and auditions for dance team.
STUCO Food Drive
There's still time to donate! Monday, November 18th is the last day to donate to the food drive. Thank you to everyone who has already donated!
The OMS Student Council is running an annual Stoughton Food Pantry Food Drive. This year, we are going to have a competition between period 1 classes and grade levels...who will donate the most items? The Period 1 class with the most donations will win a prize sponsored by the Student Council!
