Forest families,

Happy Spring!

At this time, we are in the thick of state testing (M-Step) for third through fifth grades. Also, NWEA testing is taking or will take place for all grades this month. Many field trips are planned for May. Please continue to send appropriate outerwear for your child, since they will be going out for recess each and every day. The only exception would be if it is raining.

On Wednesday, April 22, we successfully completed our MERT (Emergency Response Drill) with support from our local police and fire departments. These activities help ensure we are prepared and continue to prioritize student safety. Thank you to our community partners for their collaboration.

Please continue to check your child's Schoology group and courses. This will keep you informed of any and all upcoming events, changes and your child's grades. Schoology is the spot to find your child's classwork grades and assessments.

Just a reminder, if you would like to volunteer in your child's class, for our upcoming Fun Run or Field Day, or attend field trips, you MUST have a volunteer form filled out and approved at least 5 days prior to the event. (See volunteer link at bottom of this newsletter.)

If your child will not be returning to Forest for the 26-27 School year, please let Ms. Annie know in the office so we can plan our classroom sizes accordingly.

Please contact the office at (734) 479-2550 with any questions or concerns. You can also email myself (gmeli@riverviewschools.com) or Ms. Annie (aprusakiewicz@riverviewschools.com).

Go Pirates!

Courtesy Clothes Closet

Are your child's clothing drawers overflowing? Does your child have clothing that does not fit any longer? We are looking for gently used items for our Courtesy Closet. Items would be available for students that need spare clothes during the school day. For those spills during lunch, in STEAM or for when students accidently fall into puddles or mud outside. Items for children in grades K-2 are in high demand. Stretch pants, running pants and leggings are most desirable. Please drop off donations to the office. Thank you so much!

  1. The importance of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program: To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
  2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
  3. WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S.® school. During the day, WatchDOGS may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.
  4. By taking time to come to campus and serve the students and teachers, fathers demonstrate that education is important. A male role model can positively impact a student’s life in three critical areas: academic performance, self-esteem, social behavior.
  5. Click on the attached link to find a day that might work for you. Please make sure you have already submitted a background check prior to signing up.

Serenity Creations

Hi there! I’m Chelsea, and I believe in the power of creativity and self-expression. As an experienced Middle School Art Teacher with an extensive background in the arts and special education, I’ve seen firsthand how a little bit of paint and a lot of encouragement can transform a child’s confidence. I have lived in the Downriver area my entire life and I noticed the important need for children to have an out-of-school Creative Arts Program.

I founded Serenity Creations to be a peaceful and fun sanctuary for children where their imagination can run wild. Whether we’re diving into a STEAM-powered craft or exploring new materials, my goal is to provide a nurturing, small-group environment where every child gets the personalized attention they deserve. I take pride in providing a space where young artists can flourish and discover the joy of creating. Let’s get messy, get creative, and find the joy in making something uniquely ours!
