Thankful Thursday

As daylight grows shorter and the time changes (this Sunday!) it seems fitting we will begin the month our Church dedicates to the Holy Souls in purgatory. Although the days may be darker, we strive to keep our focus on the bright joy which comes from the hope we have in Jesus. Starting November with the Solemnity of All Saints on November 1 and All Souls Day on November 2 might look like a focus on death, but it is actually a celebration of eternal life! Instead we are invited to pray for our departed loved ones and share small acts of charity as a family. Together, we are called to teach our kids that true joy comes from living like the saints by showing up with love and trusting God with the rest.

May we be filled with hope as we enter a new month to celebrate the saints and remember our departed loved ones.

• NO BAG/BUCKETS NEEDED! Treat bags will be provided for the trunk or treat activity.
• WEAR appropriate Halloween Spirit shirt or colors with Uniform bottoms (PreK - 8)
• All students can wear appropriate Halloween spirit shirts and accessories that are not distracting with uniform bottoms.
• BRING appropriate Costumes to put on over clothes (PreK - 4 only)
• NO scary, gory or adult theme costumes.
• NO weapons and/or props
• NO costume makeup and/or colored hair
• NO inflatable costumes.
• Masks are NOT to be worn to school. Bring it for the trunk or treat!

Pumpkins, squash, and gourds, oh my! With the fall season in full swing, you might have pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns decorating all corners of your house. When pumpkin-party time is over, consider composting them for free with Hillside Solutions. From November 1-15, you can take pumpkins and gourds to one of these drop-off containers (open 24/7)!
