A Message from Principal Woofter A Message from Principal Woofter

It has been a busy few weeks!

Now that we are into the swing of things, just a couple of reminders to pass along to ensure our students are safe coming to and from school. We encourage students to ride bikes or scooters to school; however, with all the traffic on campus, we do ask students to walk their bike or scooter once they get onto school property and secure their bike or scooter in the bike racks. Additionally, please make sure students have properly fitting helmets for riding their bike or scooter. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need a new helmet for your student!

When school is dismissed, we remind students that, unless they have a grown up with them, they need to go directly home and check in with families. We have staff that help students cross the busy roads and monitor them while they are traveling home, so we want to make sure all students are safely on their way before the staff finishes their dismissal duties. Families are always welcome to stay and play after school and students are welcome to come back once they have checked in and received parent permission.

We know this is the time of year that a lot of sickness starts to pop up and we have had many questions from parents about when students can return to school after being sick. You can click on the link here for guidance on when to keep students home and when they can return to school. Thanks for your help in keeping our school community healthy!

Our Archer Glen Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 25th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. We will be doing an open house event and students are welcome to attend with their parents! There will be no set session times, instead families can attend during the open house timeframe that works best for them.

Thank you for your continued support!

Kindly,

Sarah

New! Back to School Night, Thursday, 9/25, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm New! Back to School Night, Thursday, 9/25, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm

Our Archer Glen Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 25th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. We will be doing an open house-style event and students are welcome to attend with their parents! There will be no set session times, instead families can attend during the open house timeframe that works best for them and their busy schedules. Families can visit classrooms and participate in some of the curriculum activities students have been engaged in, visit our PE/Music/STEM classes, explore the Archer Glen campus, and get information about our parent volunteer group, PAC, and other community resources that are available.

With so many families visiting classrooms during our Back to School Night, this will not be a time for teachers to talk to each family about student progress. Time will be provided for these conversations during conferences at the end of October. Please save the date and plan to join us for a wonderful evening where your students get to show off what they have been learning so far this year!

New! Let the Fun Run Begin! Here's Everything You Need to Know! New! Let the Fun Run Begin! Here's Everything You Need to Know!

Hello Archer Glen Community,

The day we've been waiting for is finally here! Our annual Fun Run fundraiser has officially kicked off, and the students are already so excited after our assembly today. This is not only our most anticipated event of the year but also our largest fundraiser to support student education and enrichment. Our goal this year is to raise $35,000 to directly benefit every student at Archer Glen!

How to Participate & Key Dates:

Students are encouraged to collect monetary donations from family, friends, and neighbors. Our fundraising period runs from September 12th to September 26th, the day of the Fun Run.

  • Online Donations: The easiest way to donate is online via Square. Please note that our Venmo is temporarily offline and should not be used for this fundraiser.

  • Cash/Check Donations: Students brought home a fundraising envelope today to collect cash and check donations.

All donations are due on the day of the Fun Run, Friday, September 26th.

Spread the Word & Get Others Involved!

One of the best ways to help our students is by simply asking others for support! We've created a pre-written email message you can easily copy and paste to send to family and friends. It makes asking for donations quick and easy!

Prize Incentives!

We've got some amazing incentives to keep our students motivated! In addition to the thrill of the run, students can earn prizes based on how much the school raises collectively.

School-Wide Prize Tiers:

  • Water bottles & Fun Run shirt

  • Music at lunch

  • Crazy/Mismatch Spirit Day

  • Staff Styles Day

  • Extra Assembly

  • Principal/Staff Pie in the Face

  • Mystery School Prize!!

Classroom Grand Prize:

  • The classroom that raises the most money will earn a special field trip to Adam's Screenprint, where they will get to design and watch their own unique T-shirts being made!

Tax Deductibility & Matching Gifts:

Did you know your donation could go even further? As a non-profit organization, we are eligible for matching gifts from many employers, and your donation is tax deductible (please consult your accountant for tax guidance).

If you need a receipt for your employer’s matching gift program, or for your tax records, please contact our treasurer at archerglenpactreasurer@gmail.com. Your request for a Matching Gift Receipt will also ensure your employer matching gift is counted toward prize goals!

Fun Run Day Details:

The Fun Run will be held on Friday, September 26th. Students will run laps on the outdoor Archer Glen track. Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to come watch and cheer on your students! We will also have a sign-making station this year.

We will send regular updates on our progress toward our goal, so keep an eye out for those emails to see how we're doing and how close your student(s)’s class is to winning the T-shirt field trip!

Thank you in advance for your incredible support!

Before school, when dropping off your student in the car line, please do so in a timely manner and pull all the way forward. Your student needs to be able to independently enter or exit your vehicle on the curb side. The car line is not the place to make a change in your student's dismissal plans or to arrange playdates. If you need extra time to coordinate plans with your student or if you need to assist your child in getting out of the car, please pull over and park in a designated parking space. This will keep our traffic flowing and our students safe.

After school, when picking up your student please pull all the way forward and DO NOT block the sidewalk. We have lots of walkers who need to be able to safely use the sidewalk to walk home after school. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our students safe.

Library Media Center Update Library Media Center Update

Welcome back to the Library Media Center! We are excited to have all the students back in the building.

We have been busy getting ready for students to start checking out books again. As we prepare to start seeing all of the students during their classroom library time, please check your child’s account on ParentVue to see if they still have any lost/damaged book fees from previous years. Children with outstanding library fees will still be allowed to check out a book at the start of the school year, but the lost book fee will remain on your child’s account.

Payment for any lost or damaged items may be made online through ParentVue or if you prefer to send in cash or a check, please be sure to include your child’s name and grade so that we can apply the payment and clear the book fee.

For more information or to view Sherwood’s full Library Media Center Policy, please click here or visit the school website.

We can’t wait to see all the new books our students discover during their library visits this year!

The District will be welcoming volunteers back into our school buildings this year. All volunteers will need to complete and have an approved background check on file prior to volunteering (this must be renewed each school year). The background check process can take 7-10 business days, so please allow sufficient processing time if you are planning to volunteer for a specific event.

Our Archer Glen Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is creating an updated email list for school information and other ways to support our school. If you are looking to volunteer at Archer Glen this year, please sign up using the link shared here. If you are new to Archer Glen you will need to create a new login. Past volunteers can use their old sign in. (Please note that this link does not work well on your phone so you will need to use another device).

ALL parents will need to fill out their information again as the system gets updated each fall. The registration will ask some questions about volunteer preferences, please still answer the questions and select all activities you might be interested in learning more about!

You can find out more information about how to sign up for volunteer opportunities at Archer Glen using HelpCounter by visiting Archer Glen PAC's Instagram handle here.
