The LMS Express November 1, 2025

Hello all,

We enjoyed having many of you in the school this week for parent/guardian-teacher conferences. The discussions that took place are an important part of the support that we're all looking to provide to our students in partnership with our families.

As you'll read below, our football team wrapped up its undefeated season with a win over Hanover, our girls cross country team finished 1st in the state, boys cross country finished 4th in the state, and two of our students finished 1st and 2nd at a math meet. Our students are incredible!

Thanks for having a look at this edition of the LMS Express.

Be Well,

Tom

A group of LMS students visited FUJIFilm Dimatix this week as a part of their outreach for National Manufacturing Month. Students learned about how Art, Science, and Technology come together. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students, and we appreciate the folks at FUJIFilm, especially LMS parent Etienne Houdegbe, for making this happen.

LMS Debate Team LMS Debate Team

The LMS Debate Team competed at its first debate tournament of the year on Saturday, October 18 at Oyster River High School, in Durham, NH. LMS brought three teams: Grace Mlodzik & Madeline Thakur, Bradley Schmidt & Alex Brady, and Gwyneth Foree & Natalie Rhoads. Over the course of the day, our students debated against students from other NH schools, arguing for and against the resolution "Resolved: the United Kingdom should rejoin the European Union." The LMS students did very well in their debut!

The team's next tournament will take place Saturday, November 15 at Portsmouth High School. Students will debate the same resolution. Anyone interested in competing at these tournaments can join the team. If you don't have a partner, we can try to find a partner for you! To join, sign up on FinalForms. Practices are on Tuesdays after school from 2:30pm-4pm in Room #206.

Aviation Art Contest Aviation Art Contest

The NHDOT Bureau of Aeronautics sponsors the NASAO (National Association of State Aviation Officials) Aviation Art Contest each year and I’m hoping you might help us to spread the word about it this year.

This is a fun and creative activity for students. They can take the brochure home since it does not have to be done during school hours and does not need to be submitted by a school. Parents, guardians, or teachers can submit the students’ artwork for them.

The contest is for all school aged children whose birthdate falls between January 1st, 2008 and December 31st 2019. Their artwork will then be judged in an age-appropriate category (Junior, Intermediate, or Senior).

The 2026 theme is “Fly to Save Lives”. Attached is the official NASAO brochure and here is the link for more information as well https://nasao.org/page/international-aviation-art-contest. We really hope you will take a look and pass this on to any children that may be interested in entering for this year.

NHDOT Bureau of Aeronautics gives out some fantastic prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age category. Last year some of the prizes included a Discovery Flight, art supplies, aviation books, backpacks, plus family tickets to the Hobo Scenic Rail Tour, the Aviation Museum, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery, Castle in The Clouds, and tickets to see Thunder over New Hampshire. Winners also received some really cool Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, Portsmouth International Airport at Pease, NHDOT Bureau of Aeronautics, and NH Fish & Game promotional items.

All students, winners, and non-winners will receive a certificate from our Bureau thanking them for entering. We, all of NHDOT, will judge the artwork on the state level and the winning artwork is then forwarded to NASAO in Washington, D.C. to be judged on a national level.

The artwork will need to be mailed to us by Friday, January 16, 2026 at:

NHDOT, Bureau of Aeronautics

PO Box 483

7 Hazen Drive

Concord, NH 03302-0483

Attention: Karla Lutz

If you have any questions regarding the art contest and/or aviation education and outreach please do not hesitate to contact Karla Lutz, Karla.J.Lutz@nhdot.nh.gov
