I am so excited to share that author Josh Funk will be visiting our school on Wednesday afternoon, October 21st! I am thrilled that he will have the opportunity to meet with our students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Josh Funk has written many popular and fun books for children. You can learn more about him and his books on his website: Josh Funk Books.

Neighbor Books, a family-owned bookstore in McKinney, has generously offered to order Josh Funk’s books for our families if you would like to purchase one for your child. Neighbor Books supports children's literacy and authors who visit our local area. I have attached information below that explains the ordering process. *The deadline to place your order is September 30th.

If your family already owns a book written by Josh Funk, you are welcome to send it to the library to be autographed. Please send books to the library by Tuesday, October 20th, so they can be ready for his visit.

Of course, you are welcome to purchase a book through another bookstore or website if you prefer. I simply wanted to share Neighbor Books as an option for our families.

We have many of Josh Funk's books in the SJE library if you would like to stop by and look through them before deciding which book to purchase. I will also be reading his books to our students during library time over the next month to get everyone excited about his visit!

This week was filled with a lot of fun, learning, and practicing new skills! We are so proud of the students' hard work! Here are the skills we are currently working on:

Math I can solve one and two step word problems involving addition and subtraction with an efficient strategy.

ELAR: I can discuss how a character’s traits affect the plot of a story.

Phonics: I can decode/encode (spell) words with: VCE Multisyllabic words

Science:: I can demonstrate and describe forces acting on an object in contact.

Social Studies: I can use scale to determine distances between locations on a map.
