Lake Maloney Elementary
December 2025
A note from the Principal
Greetings, Lake Students and Families!
As we enter the holiday season, I hope you’re able to relax, recharge, and enjoy meaningful time with the people who matter most. This season is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, celebrate family traditions, and create moments your children will remember for years to come.
Here are a few simple ways to make the most of family time over the holiday break—while still encouraging creativity, curiosity, and joy:
Celebrate Family Traditions:
Whether it’s baking a favorite recipe, watching a holiday movie, playing games, or decorating together, these activities help children feel connected, valued, and part of something special.
Make Time for Shared Moments:
Set aside small pockets of time to enjoy each other—talking, telling stories, crafting, cooking, or going for a winter walk. These everyday moments build strong relationships and happy memories.
Encourage Creativity:
Invite your child to draw, build, create crafts, or write about their favorite parts of the season. These activities boost imagination and help children express themselves in meaningful ways.
Explore Through Everyday Activities:
Have your child help measure ingredients while cooking, read instructions for a game, follow steps for a craft, or help plan a family activity. Learning can happen naturally when you do things together.
Include Books When You Can:
If your family enjoys reading together, great—but even listening to music, storytelling, or looking through photo albums helps strengthen language and connection.
This season is truly about togetherness. No matter how you choose to spend the break—through traditions, relaxation, adventure, or simple time together—we hope it brings warmth, joy, and connection to your family.
Wishing you all a peaceful, memory-filled holiday season!
Mrs. Fleck

Holiday Jamboree morning of Friday, December 19: A new event for us at Lake!
We are looking forward to this opportunity to create fun memories for our students and
families.
Holiday Classroom parties afternoon of Friday, December 19: Families are
always welcome to attend classroom holiday parties. Grades K-3 will be at 2:40

Our school has requested PTO's assistance to bring an exciting educational assembly to
our students. We are hoping to host Wildlife Encounters, an organization that provides
students with the unique opportunity to learn about and see exotic animals in real life!
To fund this opportunity, PTO will be organizing an additional fundraiser early next
semester. We appreciate your support in bringing this incredible learning experience to
our students.
Attendance
NPPS Attendance
North Platte Public Schools believes in the importance of children being in school. Lake Elementary will be monitoring building, grade, classroom, and individual student's attendance. We are gifted with prizes for students who maintain less than Five or More Absences. We also recognize students with Perfect Attendance. This year we are monitoring our Monthly Absences by Grade, please make sure your students are coming to school.
If your child will not be in school, please call the office before 8:00am. If students are seen by a medical professional, please provide a note to the office. Students who miss more than 10 days are required to have an Attendance Meeting with Principal and Parents. As required by state statute, student who are chronically absent will have a referral sent to the County Attorney.
Attendace Goals
North Platte Public Schools works collaboratively with families to ensure that students are in school. Lake Elementary's November Attendance was 95.97%. We strive to be above 95% as a school. Way to Go WILDCATS!!!

With winter coming please make sure you send a jacket/winter coat and a hat/gloves with your student(s) with them everyday. If the temp is above a feel like of 15 degrees we typically go outside for recess. Remember if it snows, students may bring their snow boots to play in the snow. Students without snow boots will not be allowed to go into the snow. Please make sure to label your student's items so if they get put in the lost and found we can find its owner!

North Platte Public Schools is committed to providing PE daily to our elementary students. Please make sure students either wear or bring tennis shoes to school daily.
