Byrd Weekly Update
Week of 12/12/2022
Week At A Glance
Friday is an early dismissal day (12:30 PM) and our last day of school before the winter break. We will reopen on January 2nd.
This week we will have a reading spirit week! We hope to remind and encourage students to read while school is closed over winter break. Classes will participate in a week-long reading challenge. On Monday, all students will pick a free book at our Book Swap. They will take this book home to read and keep (it is not a library book). Students are welcome to bring additional books from home to swap for another book. Books donated to the swap will not be returned. On Friday, students will enjoy a sing-a-long and special story in the Courtyard with hot chocolate to enjoy!

Counseling Lessons- Kindness & Generosity
Hello Byrd Families! In our most recent rotation of counseling lessons, students explored the topics of kindness and generosity. Pre-K through 1st grade heard the story ‘Extra Yarn’ by Mac Barnett, a story about a young girl who transforms her community with magical yarn, making sweaters for everyone. Then students had an opportunity to make some of their own magical sweaters and give it to someone special. Check out a few of our awesome examples below! 3rd through 5th graders participated in ‘The Kindness Gameshow,’ working on teams to answer questions about being kind, acting out kindness scenarios, and creating kindness symbols and illustrations. In our next round of lessons, we will talk about Diversity and Inclusion! - Mrs. Jackson
Reminders
If you wish to volunteer, eat lunch with your child, or enter the school building in any capacity, you must check in at the front office with your driver's license! We cannot let anyone in the building without checking their driver's license. This is to keep our students and staff safe. Thank you for understanding!
- If you need to pick up your student in the office, please do so before 2pm! Pickup after 2pm should be done through the car rider line.
