Many of you will be taking your first unit test in Algebra I after we return from Labor Day weekend. In order to help you prepare, I will be hosting a virtual Algebra I, Unit 1 Review Session through Google Meet on Thursday, September 3rd from 12:30-1:00pm. This will be a great opportunity to get your questions answered before you take the test!

Because we will be using Google Meet, you are required to RSVP using your Norman Public Schools email address. The form will not work if you are not signed in with the correct Google account. Let me know if you need help!

Teachers and students will take a break and unplug September 4th and 7th. Courses will be available, but no new work will be due. Enjoy!

Held at Dimensions Academy (809 N. Findlay Ave.) in our ExpandED classroom, room 205. Any secondary student is welcome to attend to get help with their ExpandED classes. This small group is hosted by Mrs. Frenette and Ms. Raney, who have combined experience teaching Math, Health, Science, and English. When you RSVP, we will add your name to our email list to send reminders and updates, so please RSVP even if you plan to attend later in the semester! Interested in school pictures? Please come to the Dimensions gym any time between 9 AM and 2 PM on September 15! Please note that there will not be senior pictures taken this day.

Dear Families,

We're excited to offer FREE PRE-ACT testing for 9th-11th grade students on October 14!

The PRE-ACT is a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program and other scholarships. For 9th and 10th graders, it's valuable practice for future testing.

Need some help in your virtual classes or a quiet place to work? Come to Charge Up, ExpandED's study hall style meet up! NPS ExpandED teachers will be available to answer your questions, troubleshoot tech, make work plans, and more. We hope to see you there!

We are so excited to have you joining us for the 26-27 school year! Please take a moment to review our expectations and tips for success to make the most of your year and get off to a great start.

We ask that all students and families:

• set up a dedicated time and space for learning each day. Plan to commit at least one hour per class per day working online. For example, a student taking 6 classes online should anticipate to work approximately 6 hours each day on coursework.
• check your email daily, especially NPS student email accounts. The majority of your communication with our staff will be via school email.
• read and respond to communication from teachers and our office.
• inform us of issues or changes to contact information in a timely manner. We can't help if we don't know!

Students will go to sislogin.edgenuity.com to access their classes. Please bookmark this website. Your username will be your school email address.

• If you have never taken online courses with us before, your password will be sent to your school email address
• If you have taken classes with us, your password will be the same as it was last year.
• If you need help with your password, please email expandEDhelp@normanps.org

This will take students to their SIS dashboard, where they can find contact information for their teachers, send messages to teachers, and see their grades. To access coursework, students should click on one of the hyperlinked course names. These will take them to either Edgenuity or Buzz depending on the class. Please note that Edgenuity and Buzz are different platforms, so if you have classes on both you will need to be sure to click the names of each class.

A key component of success in our virtual program is communicating with teachers. ExpandED is proud to offer both core classes and a variety of electives with our amazing NPS teachers, as well as partnering with Edgenuity staff for additional courses. You can find contact information for all of our NPS ExpandED staff here. Contact information for Edgenuity teachers can be found on the SIS dashboard by clicking "course information" on the left.

The Norman Public School District has expanded educational opportunities to accommodate the growing needs of students and families. ExpandED is an innovative program designed to serve students who benefit from a customized, self-paced, virtual education solution.

While the district has offered online courses for more than a decade, this program provides participating students with the flexibility to complete all of their coursework outside the traditional school building or blend their learning experience by attending some classes at school. Norman Public Schools teachers work closely with students to guide them through online curriculum and customize lessons as needed. ExpandED students also have the unique opportunity to participate in on-site extracurricular activities, including 6A athletic teams and world-class fine arts programs.
