STATE!

Good luck to Caroline (cross country) and the Equestrian Team as they both head to their respective state competitions this weekend. We are proud of you!

Go Foxes!!

Daylight Savings Time Ends

This weekend is the end of Daylight Savings Time. On Sunday, November 1st at 2am the clocks fall back to 1am. Though we've enjoyed the later sun throughout this last summer, it has been more and more challenging with the later sunrise getting up and going.

The switch in time can result in an extra hour of sleep, but that is only if you go to bed the same time. Help your student by reminding them to avoid the "one-hour trap". If they stay up late thinking they have an extra hour, this can give them jet lag on Monday morning.

Encouraging students to avoid their phone or other screens an hour before bed can help students sleep better and be more rested as well.

However you spend that extra hour this weekend, enjoy it!

The Career Fair is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore different career paths, ask questions, build networking skills, and learn directly from professionals in a variety of fields. Your encouragement and support will help them make the most of this valuable experience.

If Your Student Is In A SPORT, PLEASE READ!

Athletics and Activities Attendance Policy (Condensed):

Students must attend the full school day to participate in practice or competition. To be eligible on a day with an absence:

  • Step 1: A parent must notify the office 24 hours in advance. For emergency medical appointments, parents must call before 8:00 AM the day of the absence. A medical note is required upon arrival.

  • Step 2: Student collects an excused slip from the office with the medical note.

  • Step 3: Student gives the excused slip to their coach/advisor before participating.

A parent may call a student in for personal reasons as long as they arrive before 2nd hour and are within their 10 excused absences for the year. Unexcused absences mean no participation until the next full day. Final decisions rest with the Dean of Students or Principal.

Omro Partnering with Cartwheel Telehealth Mental Health Provider

The District has partnered with Cartwheel, a telehealth mental health provider for students. These services are only offered virtually and at this time would not be during school hours. Check out their one-page brochure below for details.

Another nice option they offer is parent guidance (brochure below) to help parents guide their child through what they are going through. This would be utilized if a student is too young for therapy or may be older but not be ready for therapy.

Here is the link to the Cartwheel webpage, which has some really nice resources for teachers and families.

As always, reach out if you have any questions or feel like you have a student that could benefit from outside of school mental health services.

Counselor Connection Newsletter

Please see this month’s Counselor Connection Newsletter. This was sent to all families/guardians within the School District of Omro. The school counselors from all buildings (HB Patch/OES, OMS and OHS) have collaborated to create one newsletter. Please take time to read this newsletter. Their contact information is listed within the newsletter.

University/ Recruiter Visit Procedure

In order for students to meet with recruiters, the recruiter needs to set up appointments THROUGH GUIDANCE and they should be scheduled during study hall. Please do not just set something up on your own with them as we do not allow recruiters free access to students without going through the proper procedure. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with the office or guidance.
