ALL IN ON ATTENDANCE - GUILDING STRONG ROUTINES
- September is the perfect time to set consistent morning and bedtime routines that make school attendance a natural habit. Students who start the year strong are more likely to maintain excellent attendance all year long.
- Students who miss fewer than 5 days in the first semester are 3 times more likely to stay on track in reading and math.
- The late bell rings at 7:40 a.m. Students should be in their classroom ready to learn at that time.
- Please notify your child’s teacher when your student is absent. You will also need to send in a signed note or documentation from your doctor’s office when the student returns to school.
SEPTEMBER IS ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH
Student Pledge
EJ encourages all students and families to commit to the following pledges:
Because attending class prepares me for success in school and in life. If I attend school regularly, I know I can learn to:
- Read well by the end of third grade
- Graduate from high school
- Choose the career for me
- Choose the training or college education I need to help me be what I want to be
I promise to show up to school each day ready to learn, and do whatever I can to improve my attendance and help my friends get to school, too.
Adult Pledge
Because I know that daily attendance is critical to student success – from kindergarten all the way through high school graduation – and leads to students who can read on grade level, graduate high school on time, and choose the training, education and careers that best suit their goals, and because when we work together across education, families, communities, civic organizations and business, we can accomplish more than working alone.
When we show up for them, our students can show up and succeed.
I pledge to help students in my life show up to school every day ready to learn, to keep learning myself, and to do what I can to help students increase attendance and decrease chronic absenteeism.
MORNING PROGRAM INFORMATION
Did you know your child gets to play in the gym in the mornings?
So, get them there at 7:10 to get play time! See below for the schedule.
STUDENT SUCCESS SKILLS
Student Success Skills (SSS) are Fulton County School's standards for the skills needed to demonstrate mastery of academic and interpersonal skills needed for college, career, and life success. These six skills are taught in all schools, by all teachers, to all students. Each skill has corresponding standards across grade levels.
As a parent, you can help your child with these skills on a weekly basis through the rethinkEd Home Connections. Each week the links will change with new ideas on how to help your child learn. Click on the links below to help your child learn how their brain works!
