Honors English: We begin our year with a project: Storytelling with Puppets. We will be reading traditional stories told with puppetry and writing our own stories. Stay tuned for further information.
Ms. Stricklin
Our upcoming lessons are focused on Sandra Cisneros' short story "Eleven." This unit will engage students in various activities that combine analysis, discussion, and writing, all centered around a fun birthday theme.
Overview:
Day 1: Students will journal their thoughts on how birthdays are celebrated in their families and what they enjoy most about their own birthdays. We will also work on a Vocabulary Graphic Organizer.
Days 2-4: Students will read and annotate the story "Eleven," followed by a Characterization Cake Activity and a Scavenger Hunt.
Days 5-7: We will have a Hot Potato Discussion and a Literary Shuffle to further explore the text.
Days 8-9: Students will plan and write a Response to Literature essay, using an Evidence Tracker and Essay Graphic Organizer to help structure their writing.
Ms. Hunter
Welcome back! Students received classroom expectations contracts that need to be signed by a guardian and brought back. They will need to bring their journals- composition notebook or section of larger notebook- every day for class work. Looking forward to a great year!
Thank you,

Dear Families,
As we wrap up our first full week of the school year, I want to thank you for your continued support and encouragement as students settle into their routines. This week, we are diving into Module 1 for both 7th Grade Integrated Math and 7th Accelerated Math.
π΅ Canvas Navigation Practice Continues
We are continuing to practice how to effectively navigate the new Canvas interface. Students are getting more confident accessing modules, submitting assignments, and using built-in tools. Please ask them to show you how they use Canvas to track their workβitβs a great conversation starter!
π What We're Learning:
7th Grade Integrated Math:
Topic: Introduction to Geometry: Lines and Polygons
We are focusing on identifying, classifying, and drawing geometric figures and understanding their properties.
7th Grade Accelerated Math:
Topic: Geometry: Transformations
Students are exploring translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations on the coordinate plane, which will build a strong foundation for high school geometry.
π Curriculum Resources
7th Grade Integrated Math Textbook: Alabama Reveal Math Course 2
7th Accelerated Math Textbook: Grade 7 Accelerated Math, McGraw Hill
Please reference Module 1 in your child's textbook to preview upcoming concepts.
π‘ Parent Engagement
Question of the Week (Real-Life Math Chat):
βCan you show me how you would rotate or reflect something on a grid using just paper and a pencil?β
Try sketching a simple shape like a triangle and let your student explain how to transform itβthis reinforces understanding of geometry and spatial reasoning!
If you have any questions or would like to set up a time to discuss your child's progress, please donβt hesitate to reach out.
Warmly,
Ms. Whitney

π€‘ Clowns - Ms. Stricklin π€‘
Welcome to the 25-26 school year! I am so excited to get started this year. I have a few reminders for you.
Please remember to sign up for Remind if you haven't already. The code was sent home with your student last week and is on the back of the parent meeting flyer.
The mandatory parent meeting is next week on August 16. Attendance is crucial; you must attend or send someone in your place, as students are not required to attend. We have many important topics to cover before we can get started, and missing this meeting may leave you feeling lost.
Costume design class for the students will begin the week of August 18. This is a two week process; you will receive more information at the meeting and in the next newsletter.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
π€© Stars - Ms. Stricklin π€©
Welcome Stars families to the 25-26 school year! The kids are excited and ready to start working on their Christmas show.
Please remember to attend the mandatory parent meeting on August 18, at 6:15 pm in the auditorium. Stars is much simpler than Clowns, so your meeting will be relatively short. We encourage you to make arrangements to attend or send someone in your place. While students are welcome, their attendance is not required.
At the meeting, you can complete the paperwork and pay the $20 costume rental fee. If you choose to write a check, please make it payable to AAA with "Stars Rental" in the memo line. Cash and online payments through MySchoolFees are also accepted. If you pay online, kindly email me the receipt so I can credit your Star for their payment.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you soon!

We had a fantastic first week in the middle school art room! Students explored the space and began drawing while incorporating various elements of art. One of the highlights was playing "Masterpiece Remix," where students used a specific element to recreate famous paintings. In our media arts classes, we started discussing the important differences between copyright and inspiration. It was a wonderful week filled with creativity and learning!
