The Heritage Herald
May 9, 2025
Hello HMS families,
Spring is in full swing! As we enter into the last few weeks of school, we still have a lot of teaching and learning to do. Please make sure your children are at school each day and on time. If your child is sick, please call the main office to report their absence. Also, as the weather warms up, and the school year nears an end, now is a great time to remind your students of appropriate school behavior. HMS will continue to reward positive behavior and address unwanted behavior. Please help us by reminding your students of appropriate behavior.
A few reminders:
- Make sure your child charges his/her chromebook each night.
- Students should be in uniform each day. (Jeans can be worn on Fridays.)
- School starts at 7:50; 8:50 on Wednesdays.
Thanks,
Mrs. P. Malone, Principal

HAPPY NURSES APPRECIATION WEEK TO OUR NURSING TEAM!
National Nurses Week and Teacher Appreciation Week often overlap reminding us of the shared dedication that both teachers and nurses bring to educating our community.
Illinois requires one dose of MMR for day care students aged ≥12 months and pre-school aged students, and two doses of MMR vaccine for students in grades K through 12, unless they have other presumptive evidence of measles immunity, which includes laboratory evidence of immunity or laboratory confirmation of disease.
🩺 Loyola Mobile Van- CANCELLED
Unfortunately, the Loyola mobile van is no longer operational. We will continue to look for efficient health resources for our SD104 families.
🦷 6th Grade Dental Exam Requirement
Current 6th grade students are required to have a State of IL dental exam on file. Dental forms are due by May 15th.
📅 Plan Ahead for Summer Appointments
This is a great time to schedule summer doctor appointments. School health documents are due August 1st. Please note that action plans and medication authorization forms must be updated and submitted every school year! ✍️
🏃♂️ IESA Sports Physicals for Student Athletes
Students participating in IESA sports must have an updated sports physical on file. These are valid for 365 days and should be submitted to the athletic department annually.

🚨IMPORTANT🚨
STUDENT ARRIVAL-CAR DROP OFF LINE
If you are utilizing the car drop off line, please pull all the way ahead when dropping off. Your child can walk back to their door once exiting the car. Please do not stop at the middle school area to drop your child off, as that causes more of a back up. Thanks so much for your cooperation.
