High School Update 10/6/2026
CHHS Update
Dear Hylanders,
Below, you will find students' class schedules for Thursday, October 8. Thursday will be a Flex Learning day, meaning students will work from home and access their classes online. As a reminder, there is no school this Friday.
You will also find an overview of a new process that will go into effect next week, called "Tardy Sweeps." I ask that you please have a conversations with your child about the importance of being on time to class.
Thank you in advance-
Principal Wynne
Tardy Sweeps
Purpose:
To ensure students arrive to class on time and are ready to learn. The first few minutes of class are important for instruction, directions, and setting students up for success. When students arrive late, they miss valuable learning time and can disrupt instruction already underway.
Why:
We are seeing an increase in the number of students arriving to class after the bell. Students have approximately five minutes of passing time between classes, which provides sufficient time to travel from one classroom to the next. However, too many students are choosing to remain in the hallways or socialize with friends rather than reporting to class on time. Improving punctuality will help us protect instructional time and maintain a focused learning environment for all students.
Process:
-Each week, CHHS will conduct random tardy sweeps throughout the building. When a tardy sweep is announced, teachers will close and lock their classroom doors and will not admit students who arrive late unless they have an authorized hallway pass.
-Students who remain in the hallways without a pass will be directed to the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Administrators and support staff will meet with students, review their attendance and tardy history, discuss expectations, and contact parents/guardians.
-For students with a pattern of excessive tardiness, parents/guardians may be asked to attend a meeting with their student and a school administrator. The purpose of the meeting will be to identify barriers, problem-solve together, establish expectations for improvement, and review school attendance policies.
Our goal is not simply to address tardiness, but to help students develop habits that support their academic success and ensure they receive the full benefit of their instructional time.
Flex Day, Thursday, October 8th:
Flexible Learning/Data Days will take place two times throughout the year, on October
8, 2026, and February 5, 2027. Students will stay home and work online with their teachers.

Estimadas familias Hylander:
