Fremont MS Family Newsletter
Principal's Message
Good afternoon,
As we head into the break, my hope for every student (and parent!) is a week of true recharging. Whether you are heading out on a trip or enjoying a "staycation" at home, I encourage everyone to step away from the screens and enjoy the change of pace. I know that I plan to get in some reading for fun and time for friends and family.
A Few Quick Reminders:
Spring Break will officially begin on Monday, March 23rd through Friday, March 27th. We will return to school on Monday, March 30th.
When we return, we’ll be heading straight into a busy season of the year with IAR testing, the musical Wipeout performances, some field trips and end of year activities.
Spring break is also a great time to talk with your student about their school supplies. Many students are needing to borrow pencils, paper, and some basic school supplies.
*Special Message included from the Honor Flight Organization.
Warm Regards,
Emily Loerakker
Fremont MS Principal

8th Grade Slideshow
Hello 8th Grade parents!
We want to celebrate your kids and the fun memories they’ve made over the years. We are putting together a slideshow to be shown during the 8th grade dance. Help them walk down memory lane with this fun tribute to their time here at Fremont. We thank you in advance for your help with this.
What type of pictures we are looking for…..
Pictures with just your child (example: baby picture, first day of kindergarten, birthday, special moments, funny memory)
Pictures with Fremont friends (past students are ok)
Pictures of Fremont sporting events
Pictures of class parties, school field trips, other school events or clubs
What type of pictures not to include….
Pictures with family
Pictures with non-Fremont friends
How to share your memories….
Name each picture with the child's first initial, last name, and picture number (1, 2, 3, etc.)
How to share: email them to fremontclassof2026@gmail.com
Please only share 10 pictures per student
All pictures are due no later than April 11th to give us plenty of time to compile all the memories. Thanks for your help in making this a special time for each and every 8th grader!
Are you interested in helping plan the 8th Grade Graduation Dance? The next dance committee meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday, February 25th at 6:30 pm in the Middle School Den. If you have any questions, please email Stacie Brown at sbrownn14@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Illinois Assessment of Readiness
Students in grades 3-8 completed the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) this spring on March 31, April 2, April 7, April 9, and April 10th. All students will be tested in English language arts and mathematics.
The IAR asks students to demonstrate and apply their knowledge and skills, rather than reciting facts. The test is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for English language arts and math; the IAR measures students’ problem-solving, critical thinking, and writing skills. These skills are essential for students to stay on track for college and career readiness after high school.
Please see this week's special schedules below, due to IAR testing.
Please be sure your student gets a good night's sleep, has some breakfast, and also comes with a charged device, wired headphones, pencils, and a book to read when finished with the IAR testing session. Please note, we have a limited amount of $1.00 and $2.00 wired headphones available for purchase in the Den.
ALICE
Student and staff safety is our primary concern at Fremont School District 79. We will be practicing our ALICE intruder drill the week of April 17th at the Elementary, Intermediate and Middle School.
