Message from Principal Groves - Week of February 12, 2024 Message from Principal Groves - Week of February 12, 2024

Dear Blacklick Families:

It was great to see so many families at parent/teacher conferences this past week! We appreciate your time! A special thank you to the PRIDE Partner PTO and to all the Blacklick families that donated an item for dinner for our staff on both conference nights. It was a wonderful treat! We appreciate your kindness.

Our students and staff are really looking forward to our Random Acts of Kindness Week activities and Valentines Day celebration on Thursday, February 15.

Thank you to members of the PRIDE Partner PTO that came to school on Sunday to decorate the cafeteria for our students in honor of Valentines Day! I can't wait for the students to see the space! It looks so nice!

As a reminder there is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, February 16 (professional learning day for staff) and Monday, February 19 due to President's Day. I hope you enjoy the long weekend!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at 614-759-5100 or by email at grovesk@gjps.org.

Respectfully,

Kristen Groves

Library Update for Third Grade

We spent a few classes in January working through a Genre Personality Quiz. Students answered questions and then scored them to see what genres of books they should consider reading. Ask your student about their results. Recently, fourth grade has started talking about digital citizenship specifically about privacy and safety in sharing.

Your gift of travel size toiletries allows families to stay close to their hospitalized child without having to run to a store and worry about getting simple items like deodorant, toothpaste and shampoo. Students will be putting these toiletry bags together with their buddies. Please send in all of your donations to your child’s classroom teacher by Friday, March 1st.

We are asking grade levels to bring in the following items, however, any donations are greatly appreciated.

BES Staff Favorite Things

The Blacklick PRIDE Partner PTO has complied a list of the staff's favorite things. It is important to understand the teachers are not asking for gifts. We know that many parents might want to get their child's teacher a gift and this list is to help you select something the teacher would like. Please do not feel obligated to buy a gift for your child's teachers/staff members. A thoughtful note from you and/or your child at any time of the year is appreciated just as much or more as any gift.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Karen Davidson, PTO President, at ptoblacklick@gmail.com.
