Note: This is not a complete list of events at Anthony. Subject to change.

Mark your calendars for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA)! On April 22, all Anthony students will take the MCA Reading assessment, and then they will tackle the MCA Math assessment on April 24. Eighth grade students also take the Science MCAs in Science class on April 29 and 30.

These assessments are important as they help us understand how well our students are progressing and identify areas where additional support, different instructional practices, or new content materials may be needed.

Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep before each test, has a nutritious breakfast on testing days, and comes ready to focus! We appreciate your support in helping your student do their best!

Logistics:

• Students will take the MCAs in their advisory room through an extended time period (8:40-11:58) on both days.

• Students should bring a book or other quiet independent activity to do after they finish testing.

• NO PHONES, AIR PODS, SMART WATCHES are permitted in the testing space. Please help emphasize this to your student.

• Students can use their own wired headphones for the assessment; these are also provided in class.

• Please note that Parent Refusals for testing ("opt outs") result in a zero score that negatively impacts Anthony's overall score and does not provide us with any information about your individual student's growth or support needs.

• Please avoid scheduling other appointments during these testing windows. Thank you!

• Makeups will happen over various days in the week of April 25.

In October, schools receive MCA score reports to share with families at fall conferences.

* After testing in Advisory which is extended from 8:40-11:48, students will attend their regular afternoon classes (periods 4-6) on April 22. On April 24, students will attend their periods 1-3 classes during the afternoon.

Seventh graders, you have completed three academic quarters. It is imperative that you build on your momentum and finish strong in the fourth quarter. Reflect on the goals set in the fall; do any of your goals need revision? In addition, please take the time to add action steps to each goal. Now is the time to organize and replenish your materials and plan for an academically successful quarter. Be prepared to put forth earnest effort and reach out for assistance. You know how to access help before and after school opportunities to meet with teachers and mentors. Invest your time and energy wisely! You will finish STRONG!!

Attention 8th grade families: If you are planning to attend Southwest High School next year and missed last month's registration event and still want a tour of the school, you are welcome to attend their optional Make-up Registration Event on April 22. See flyer for details

COME ON OUT FOR TENNIS!

The Southwest High School girls tennis team would like to invite you to grab a racket and join our team this fall! The season starts in mid-August and runs through the first week of October. We are always proud to have a number of Anthony middle schoolers on our team. No experience required.

Southwest Lakers Youth Football Camp

Join Southwest High football players, coaches and boosters at the annual Lakers Youth Football Camp, set for July 30 at Pershing Park. The morning session is 10 a.m. to noon and is for grades K-5; afternoon is 1-3 p.m. for grades 6-8. Registration is just $30 and includes a t-shirt and snack. Click here to register. If you need to pick up your student during the school day, we ask that you PLEASE COMPLETE THE ATTENDANCE FORM or have your student BRING IN A WRITTEN NOTE so they can get a leave early "green" pass to come down to the office. This would really help us not disrupt class and ensure your student is ready for pick up in a timely manner.
