SEL in Action at Home
March 2023 | Responsible Decision Making
HAPPY SPRING BREAK! ~ March 13 - March 17
What is Responsible Decision Making?
Responsible Decision-Making is the ability to make constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions based on ethical standards, safety concerns and social norms. This include:
- identifying problems and inequities
- recognizing one's responsibilities to behave ethically
- analyzing impact of individual and institutional decisions and actions
- co-creating inclusive solutions
- evaluating
- reflecting
With Spring Break just around the corner, let's work with our kids to steer them towards making responsible decisions. So, engage your kids in a discussion! Look at the calendar to see how we can be support them with making responsible decisions. Create a calendar of activities that can be done outside as a family. Discuss how much time can spend in doors watching tv or playing video games. Take time to walk to a neighborhood park and pack a pic-nic.
QUOTE FOR THE MONTH
Responsibility ~ Kindness at Home
Fill the Home with Responsibility.
According to the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, RESPONSIBILITY means being reliable to do the things that are expected or required of you. The activities below focus on having more responsibility within families. There are many things we are responsible for; sometimes we are responsible for big things and sometimes we are responsible for small things. Consider using the journal pages below to assist with teaching kids about their contributions as they take "responsibility" for contributing to the family in a positive way.
