We are Off to a Great Start!

Dear Students and Families,

Our first complete week of school has come to a close. The smiles in the hallways, the helpful hands and the start of academics fill the classrooms. Each classroom is filled with exciting getting to know you games, songs, brain breaks and routines. The students are adapting well to the change from summer schedules! I am sure this weekend will be a time to refresh, sleep in and hear the wonderful stories of the start of the school year! This week 30 of our 5th graders went through peacemaker training! It will be great to have these leaders help out in the cafeteria and on the playground. Thank you for trusting our fabulous staff at Bridges! We enjoy each day with your child/ren.

Working Together,

Mrs. Rittmiller

This year we have standard practices across Mankato Area Public Schools. Students will be practice each of the drills below as well as have an understanding of what each might mean. This week, we had a HOLD! and a fire drill practice. Next week, we will have a SECURE!, a fire drill and a LOCKDOWN! practice. Please read the letter about our upcoming lock down drill scheduled for Friday, September 22 at 2:00 pm. We are required to have 5 fire drills and 5 emergency drills each year. If you have any questions, please reach out to your student's classroom teacher or the office. Please see the chart below for more specifics about each emergency.

Referendum Plans - Nov. 7

A special election is being held on November 7 asking voters to improve the educational facilities throughout Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS). As parents of our #MAPSready students, we'd like to share with you the referendum plans that will be on the ballot this fall.

The school district is holding a two-question referendum on November 7 for the following:

  • Safety + Security at all MAPS school buildings (At Bridges this means a new secure entrance built off of the front of the building on the gymnasium end and renovation of our current office for more adequate special education space)

  • Early Learning Access for our youngest learners and families

  • Learning + Wellness Spaces for students and staff

  • Outdoor Activity Spaces for both high schools, youth recreation and community use

Since 2017, the school district and community task forces have been studying the long-range facility needs at all buildings. The projects included in this fall's referendum were presented to the community through three community surveys, all of which showed significant support for investing in future-focused facilities. As a result, the MAPS School Board unanimously approved moving forward with a bond referendum on November 7.

Please take 3 minutes to watch this video about the referendum. Learn more, including where and when to vote by visiting www.isd77.org/vote2023.
