A Message From the Principal
Hello Mountain Vista Families,
As we wrap up February, we have so much to celebrate! Across classrooms, our Mammoths are showing impressive growth as readers, writers and thinkers. Students are digging into increasingly complex texts, thinking critically about what they read, and clearly communicating their ideas in both discussion and writing. Even more exciting is seeing how they are applying these skills across content areas. It is evident that their hard work, paired with your support at home and our focused instructional efforts at school, is truly paying off.
We are looking forward to sharing this growth with you during Parent Teacher Conferences next week, March 2-March 5. If you have not yet signed up for a conference with your child’s classroom teacher, please be sure to do so as soon as possible. This time together is an important part of our partnership and provides a meaningful opportunity for students to showcase their learning and progress. We truly value this time to connect with you.
We are also excited for Cherry Creek Reads Week coming up March 9-March 13. This year’s featured book is “All the Stars in the Sky” by Art Coulson. We will pair this special week with our school wide Read-A-Thon, which serves as our final fundraiser of the year. It is a wonderful way to encourage, celebrate, and enjoy reading while also supporting our school. Thank you in advance for your participation and for the many ways you support reading at school and at home.
Finally, if you have a child who will be joining us for PreK or Kindergarten next year, we encourage you to enroll now. Early enrollment helps us plan carefully for staffing and class sizes and ensures a smooth and welcoming transition for our youngest learners. If you know families in the community with incoming students, please help us spread the word. We would love to welcome them to the Mountain Vista family.
With appreciation for your continued partnership,
Megan Carkhuff

Denver Nuggets Nurse Honors Night
We have amazing news to share—thanks to all of you!
Our very own Nurse Jackson has been voted as one of the top four nurses to be honored by the Denver Nuggets! 🏀💙 She will be recognized at the March 25, 2026 game, and we couldn’t be more excited or more proud.
A huge thank you to everyone who voted and helped spread the word to friends and family. Your support made this incredible celebration possible!
Way to go, Nurse Jackson! 🌟
Book Vending Machine!
Our brand new book vending machine has officially arrived at MVE, and we could not be more excited. This incredible addition was made possible by our amazing PTO and the generosity of our community through fundraisers and donations. A special thank you to Shannon Randels, our Teacher of the Neurodivergent, whose support and advocacy helped bring this vision to life.
Students will receive tokens for books as determined by their grade level teachers. Tokens may be awarded for reaching reading goals, demonstrating success with social emotional learning, being recognized through grade level spotlight celebrations, or making outstanding growth. We cannot wait to see our Mammoths’ love of reading grow one book at a time. 📚🧡💙

Get your hands on some more good books at the spring BOOK FAIR!
Did you know that studies have shown that there is a correlation between children's access to books at home and higher literacy and overall reading skills? In other words, the more books at home the better! These can be books that you check out from the local and school library or books that you own. However you can do it, get as many books in your children's hands that you can.
A great way to get some books into your children's hands and to get them excited about reading is by letting them select and purchase books from our school BOOK FAIR, coming up Monday-Thursday, March 2-5, in the school library. And remember that every dollar spent helps our school.

Our program integrates STEM elements into the performing arts as students collaborate to produce full musicals for a variety of age groups.
